UPDATE: 5 men have now been arrested on suspicion of a car bomb plot against RAF Fairford, found with 3 vans suspected to have been used as car bombs.

The men were pictured shirtless in handcuffs, a detail suggesting officers may also have suspected suicide vests. Counter terrorism police, the Army's explosive ordnance disposal team and the SAS have all been deployed to the scene.

Armoured US military vehicles are patrolling the base as helicopters circle overhead. Access roads remain closed and bomb disposal units are still on site.

RAF Fairford has been placed on Delta alert, the highest US threat level, with RAF Lakenheath separately raised to Charlie alert.

This is an active major security emergency, and it's still unfolding.

Our final report on Warwickshire County Council’s published records show £6.56 million paid to Nuneaton Taxi Service Ltd for taking children and young people to school or college between January 2023 and December 2025.

An FOI response has now confirmed that supplier ID 246052 is Nuneaton Taxi Service Ltd, company number 14071030, and that the published transactions under that ID were paid to the company.

The company’s latest filed micro-entity accounts, for the period ending 30 April 2025, reported:

• average employees: NIL
• cash at bank and in hand: £260,817
• creditors due within one year: £199,117
• creditors due after one year: £75,000
• net assets: £16,700

It reported an average of NIL employees for three consecutive accounting periods. The accounts do not disclose turnover, expenses or profit, so the council payments cannot be reconciled against them.

Its identifiable public facing presence is also limited. I could not identify an independently attributable company website or social media account.

WCC’s FOI account export produces a sign interpreted net figure of £8.44 million for the requested period, £1.88 million above the council’s separately published £6.56 million Home To School / College Transport ledger. WCC did not define the signs, service category or VAT basis in that export, so £8.44 million cannot be described as SEND or school transport spending.

WCC also omitted the requested route and contract schedule and did not separate SEND from mainstream transport.
