The PC game “Great War Western Front” is actually a fantastic game simulating what might be called “Jominian Battlefield Geometry” and the importance of strongpoints, kill zones, shaping operations and what I insanely call “static maneuver.”

I've learned that people with impossibly high internal standards essentially want to surprise themselves with their own abilities.

The "are mechs realistic?" arguement has cropped up in the #Battletech community and I'd like to offer my two bits.
I'm not going to argue the question itself, but how the majority of arguments frame it. This is going to be a thread as I'm a bit verbose in my writing.
The Locust clocks 129 kph, which is 80mph.
That is VERY fast for something three stories tall and 20 tons in weight.
Like, horrifically fast.
If you are Infantry, and you see a Locust a few miles away, you are likely already dead.
