DENTAL MYTH #1
"Scaling loosens your teeth."
❌ MYTH.
Here's the reality:
If your teeth feel loose after a professional cleaning, the scaling didn't loosen them.
The plaque and tartar around your teeth may have been acting like a false support.
Once it's removed, you may finally notice the mobility that was already there—often caused by gum disease and bone loss, not the cleaning itself.
In fact…
✅ Scaling helps stop gum disease from progressing and is one of the best ways to protect the bone supporting your teeth.
So don't fear the cleaning.
Fear the plaque you leave behind. 🦷
@thefithygienist Hi Jessica.. since you have made a habit developing app and it looks good too..if the reminders of dental appointments can be added will be great
You brushed your teeth.
You used mouthwash.
You even had a mint.
But somehow…
Your breath STILL isn't fresh. 😬
Here's the mystery:
Bad breath doesn't always come from your teeth.
It can be linked to: 👅 Bacteria on your tongue 🦷 Gum disease 🦷 Dry mouth 🦷 Food trapped between teeth 🦷 Certain medical conditions
And here's something many people forget:
Your tongue can be a major hiding place for bacteria.
So if you're only brushing your teeth…
You might be missing an important part of the picture.
Sometimes the problem isn't your teeth.
It's your tongue. 👅
Always use a tongue cleaner after brushing or simply just brush your tongue.
I would recommend using a tongue cleaner over a mouth wash..
Use it and you’ll yourself feel the difference in your breath and overall oral hygiene and health.
Whatever you seek will find you if it’s supposed to ..
All you have to do it put all your effort in whatever you are doing..
sometimes it occurs that everything is predestined.. it’s all about the right time..🧿🙏
Reactionary haemorrhage !!?
Heard of this term anywhere??
It occurs in Dentistry also..
Sometimes when you get your tooth extracted the bleeding stops but may start again within 24 hours of extraction..
This is known as reactionary haemorrhage and it’s mainly because of
High blood pressure or slipping of the ligatures ( sutures) given ..
Your tooth hurts a little during the day.
Manageable.
You carry on.
Then nighttime comes…
And suddenly the pain feels 10× WORSE. 🌙😩
Why?
Here's the mystery:
An inflamed tooth can sometimes feel more uncomfortable when you're lying down.
Changes in blood flow and pressure may contribute to the sensation.
And there's another reason:
During the day, you're distracted.
At night?
No work. No conversations. No distractions.
Just you…
…and that tooth. 😭🦷
But persistent nighttime tooth pain?
That's your cue to get it checked.
Ever finished a workout and thought…
"Why does my mouth feel… WEIRD?" 🏋️♀️😳
Maybe it's dry.
Your saliva feels thick.
You have a strange taste.
Or suddenly… your breath isn't as fresh. 😅
Here's the mystery:
During exercise, you lose fluids through sweat and often breathe more through your mouth.
Less saliva + dehydration = a drier mouth.
And saliva isn't just "water."
It helps wash away food particles, neutralize acids, and protect your teeth.
So what to do for that weird post-workout mouth feeling?
Stay hydrated. Your teeth will thank you.
Starting a series of what seems to be mysterious to people but has a simple explanation..
🦷 DENTAL MYSTERY #1
Why does food ALWAYS get stuck between the SAME two teeth?
Every.
Single.
Time. 😩
Here's the mystery:
It could be because of:
🦷 A gap between your teeth
🦷 A cavity
🦷 Gum recession
🦷 A change in an old filling
🦷 The way your teeth contact each other
And here's what many people don't realize:
Food getting trapped repeatedly isn't just annoying.
It can irritate your gums and increase the risk of decay.
So if the SAME spot constantly needs flossing…
Maybe your teeth are trying to tell you something. 👀

If the pain keeps coming back after you land—or you notice pain with hot, cold, biting, or spontaneous throbbing—don't blame the flight alone. 🚨
The flight may have simply revealed a problem that was already there.
Your tooth wasn't necessarily "fine."
The pressure change may have just exposed the hidden problem. 🦷
Dentistry is full of surprises. 👀
You had a filling.
The tooth was completely painless.
Then you board a plane… ✈️
Mid-flight, that SAME tooth suddenly starts hurting.😳
You land—and the pain disappears.
Coincidence? 👀
Here’s what may be happening…
The culprit could be barodontalgia—
tooth pain triggered by changes in air pressure. 🦷✈️
During takeoff and landing, cabin pressure changes rapidly.
If there’s
1. inflammation inside the tooth,
2. a tiny gap around a filling,
3. another underlying problem,
these pressure changes may trigger pain that wasn't noticeable on the ground.
But there’s a catch…
Dentists have a secret superpower. 🦷👀
We can be having a perfectly normal conversation with you…
But somewhere in our brain:
“Hmm… nice smile.” “Interesting alignment.” “Is that a stain?”
And the funniest part?
You have no idea we're analysing your teeth. 😂
🦷 CONFESSION: Your “yellow” teeth might actually be perfectly healthy.
Yes, you read that right.
Your teeth are NOT naturally supposed to look like sheets of white paper. 👀
Here’s why your tooth colour can vary 👇
1. 🟡 Why are teeth yellowish?
Your enamel is slightly translucent.
Underneath it is dentin, which is naturally yellowish.
So a little yellow ≠ unhealthy teeth.
2. ⚪ Why are some teeth whiter?
Genetics, age, enamel thickness and tooth structure all influence your natural shade.
Your teeth don't have to match anyone else's.
3. ☕ Why do teeth get darker?
Tea, coffee, tobacco and certain foods can cause surface stains.
Professional cleaning can remove many of these stains.
But remember:
Cleaning removes stains. It doesn't change your natural tooth colour.
4. 🩶 What about a tooth turning grey?
A tooth that suddenly becomes grey or dark—especially after an injury—should be checked by a dentist.
Sometimes, the change can come from inside the tooth.
5. ⚠️ What about black or brown spots?
Not every dark spot is a cavity.
It could be staining.
It could also be decay.
Don't guess. Get it checked.
6. 🚨 The BIGGEST myth:
Whiter teeth ≠ healthier teeth.
A slightly yellow tooth can be completely healthy.
A perfectly white tooth can still have cavities or gum disease.
Tooth colour is NOT a health certificate.
7.🪥 What actually matters?
✔️ Brush twice daily ✔️ Clean between your teeth ✔️ Limit frequent sugary snacks ✔️ Don't ignore bleeding gums ✔️ Get regular dental check-ups
✨ Your teeth don't have to be perfectly white to be healthy.
Stop comparing your natural smile to filters and heavily whitened celebrity smiles.
Healthy doesn't always mean bright white. ❤️

I don’t know who all can relate to it but sharing something that I learnt in a hard way and still facing the consequences..
If you a sportsperson who is training hard for a competition or playing a sport professionally please and please don’t ignore the physio part of recovery..
I am 40 years old and a professional badminton player and started training hard for the competitions ignoring the physio part.. honestly I didn’t ignore it but I didn’t have the awareness and knowledge of its importance in recovery..
I suffered knee injury last year and now I am struggling through calf issues.
Lack of exposure and guidance at our times when we were kids and still carrying the same lag lead to it..
Although now I have started the rehab and regular physio sessions where I was told by the therapist that monthly I should be taking session if I play and train the way I do..
Then it struck to me what I was not doing right ..
hope that I recover soon and I hope who all can read it please do visit your physios proactively and don’t let an injury take you to them..
Keep playing and keep recovering 🫶
What exactly is the structure of tooth both above and below the gums??
The most easiest way to understand anything is…
To see the picture of it..
Here the picture that I am showing is a cross section of a tooth ,that means ..
A picture of what the inside of something would look like if you cut through it.
Your teeth are the HARDEST substance in your body..
Yes, even harder than your bones.
The outer layer—enamel—is incredibly strong and protects your teeth from daily chewing forces.
But here's the catch…
Enamel can't repair itself once it's permanently damaged.
So that tiny cavity you keep ignoring? 👀
It won't magically disappear.
Take care of your teeth. You only get one natural set. 🦷

A missing tooth is not just a gap.
It's a change in the entire system.
When one tooth disappears, the surrounding environment can change too.
1. The neighbouring teeth may drift.
2. The opposing tooth may move.
3. The supporting bone can remodel.
4. Your chewing pattern can adapt.
And the longer the situation remains, the more complex replacement may sometimes become.
This doesn't mean every missing tooth requires the same treatment.
It means every missing tooth deserves an individual assessment.
The goal isn't simply to "fill the gap."
It's to restore function within a living, changing system.
You lost one tooth 🦷
so what right!!
Should you get it replaced or just let it be?
If it’s a front tooth then only it’s important to replace , replacement of posterior missing tooth is not much of importance?!
Is it really important to get a missing tooth replaced ??
