2x + 8 - 5 = 35 simplify left side
2x + 3 = 35. Subtract 3 from each side
2x = 32. Divide each side by 2
x = 16 -- the answer

Double check
2 × 16 + 8 - 5 =
32 + 8 - 5 =
40 - 5 =
35✓

@demaonis @SqSehrish I find that almost all patterns show themselves w/in 3-4 given values . The only time I have an issue with these types of problems is when they give 1-2 examples and ask for the next number. Most likely 2 examples alone provide insufficient evidence to fund the pattern.

@JohnPaluskaPR @SqSehrish When I was teaching Chemistry and Math classes to HS students I would tell them that often there are multiple ways to get the correct answer and as long as your answer made sense, it would count. There is usually no one way to do things. I love it when people present alternae

Do the division 1st then sq root that value.

√(18÷[1/2])=
√36 =
6 -- the answer. Report the pos. 6 only since that is convention when using √ unless specified in an Algebra problem.

Add the two numbers. Then multiply that value by the 1st # given. (You could also use the 2nd # given since they're the exact same).

3+3=6 × 3 =18
4+4=8 × 4 =32/
5+5=10 × 5 = 50
6+6=12 × 6 = 72 (missing from list)
7+7=14 × 7 = 98 -- the answer

@ThrillaRilla369 2 toilets/bathrooms in a house of 5. We had 1 full Bath and 1/2 bath. But we didn't get that 1/2 bath until I was 14 years old. I always thought that it must be nice to have an extra. Plus when my younger brother turned 13, he seemed to be in 1 of them all the time.

Using l PEMDAS, multiply first going left to right, then do the addition. 6+ 6 × 6 × 0 = 6 + 36 × 0 = 6 + 0 = 6 -- the answer

Subtract 8 from each side first. This means √Q + 8 = 17 becomes √Q = 9. Now square each side giving you Q = 81 -- the answer.

@emmiiireal The answer is 6 m^2 or sq meters. You get this by applying the concept that in a rectangle, the ratios of the adjacent areas are the same. This means 2m^2/4m^2 = 3m^2/X. In other words & focusing on the numbers only (2/4) = (3/X). Solving for X by cross multiply or Algebra = 6

@Mahrukhnk Using PEMDAS, simply the numerator. 3+3x3÷3-3=3+9÷3-3=3+3-3=6-3=3. So numerator simplifies to 1 after all operations complete. Next divide what's in the parentheses or 3÷3=1. Finally cube that answer or 1^3=1×1×1=1. 1 is the answer.
