According to @DrCastellanos:
"no amount of pineapple in the world is going to make that semen taste like a piña colada, and honestly that would be a bit alarming anyway"
Well said Dr. Castellanos.
Co-Myth of the Day: Drinking pineapple juice can change the way your fluids taste.
Verdict: True BUT not immediately. This in combination with a healthy diet will help with your smell as well as taste. While this myth is true, it doesn't mean you will taste like pineapple juice.
Myth of the Day: Pulling out is an effective form of birth control.
Verdict: Uhhh... no, because while you might stop the main fluids, there is always pre-ejaculation fluid to think about. Also, this doesn't protect against STD/STIs as condoms do.
Myth of the Day: There are certain times of the month that women can't get pregnant. You just have to time it right.
Verdict: According to @PPFA: It is unlikely (if not impossible) for a woman to be able to know her cycle this well. Unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy anytime.
Even though it's not a sex-myth, here's a reason to keep up with your overall health. Most things in your body work together, so when something in one region of your body is off it could cause other things to be off as well.
Did you know that there is a link between oral health and erectile dysfunction? Since the jury is still out about whether this includes women or not, Fellas this tweet is for you. If you are suffering from ED go see your dentist.
According to Harvard Health:
"Gum disease causes chronic inflammation, which is believed to damage the endothelial cells that line blood vessels, including those in your penis."
@Fernthinks I googled "DIY fixes" for whatever general problem I'm looking for and pick the soundest looking site. It's the good looking sites that get you. Most of the more common myths I see are basic things like "you can't get pregnant from sex in the water."
Myth of the Day: Covering a tampon in apple cider vinegar, yogurt, or coconut oil before using it will fix any burning or itching in your vagina.
Verdict: FAKE NEWS! These items don't have the same bacteria as those in your vagina and are likely to cause a yeast infection.
Co-Myth of the Day: Guys can't get yeast infections.
Verdict: While it is uncommon, it is still possible. Soooo skip the overly-scented products and try to wear loose underwear as much as possible.
The internet does advertise a "reusable condom" but really I think almost everyone can see how uncomfortable and ineffective they are just by looking at them (imagine a weirdly shaped plastic cup).
Myth of the Day: You can reuse condoms if you wash them thoroughly.
Verdict: First of all ew and second of all this is false. The condom could get microtears in it from being washed BUT you should always just use a new condom anyway.
Co-Myth of the day: Papaya is a replacement for the morning-after pill. ( if you eat unripe papaya for three days)
Verdict: While the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health says that this has some truth, it works better beforehand and even better for men.
Myth of the day: If my period is on that means I can't possibly be pregnant.
Verdict: While this is super uncommon, it is not impossible. This is the importance of using protection and knowing what your options are if you forget (like a morning-after pill).
Myth of the day: Sandwich bags are a good replacement for condoms.
Verdict: This is completely false because not only do they lack the durability for this activity, they also aren't a super sanitary option. Always use actual condoms folk.
