Early-stage exploration companies and companies targeting critical minerals can receive up to 70% of eligible costs, while researchers and research institutions can get up to 100% of eligible costs.

The Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake @AlakeDele, speaking at the launch of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF) Enhanced Mineral Exploration and Research Grant Endowment (EMERGE), reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth into real jobs, sustainable revenue, and industrial growth.
According to the Minister, the launch of this grant endowment represents a key promise fulfilled, strengthening the foundation for Nigeria’s mining sector and advancing the vision of a globally competitive solid minerals industry.
In our interview at SMDF Emerge, one participant highlighted funding as one of the biggest challenges facing Nigeria’s mining sector.
He applauded the SMDF Emerge initiative for helping to bridge these gaps by providing both funding opportunities and technical support to drive the development of bankable mining projects.

A week ago, EMERGE took off.
