The announcements by the Bank of England via the Financial Times are to protect themselves not us.
After all the AI bubble in places like South Korea was plain to see ( borrowing to "invest", margin trading, gearing and leverage...)
There are TWO U.S. employment surveys.
Most people only watch one.
The Household Survey (BLUE) counts employed people directly. It is NOT benchmark-adjusted, making it one of the cleanest measures of the underlying labor market trend.
The Establishment Survey (NFP) (RED) counts payroll jobs reported by employers. It is continuously revised and annually benchmarked against unemployment insurance tax records. In other words, history gets rewritten as more complete data become available.
(The latter is the one everybody looks to... Why..?🤷♂️)
Last year in August, the preliminary benchmark revision erased 818,000 jobs from the payroll data. From the NFP numbers!
At the end of August, we'll get the next benchmark revision for 2026.
Looking at the growing divergence between these two surveys, I think this release deserves very close attention.
What do you expect we'll see? Another significant downward revision?
The Labor Market is NOT well. And when Labor Market is not well - the Economy is not well!
Hey @andyburnham - a lot of policy announcements from you. But still nothing on farming. If you are true to your word that you want to support local businesses, then back and support British farmers - our food providers and the backbone of rural economies.
When in the minority, cry victimhood.
When in the majority, show no mercy to all prospective victims.

Will the West ever wake up? I don't think so...
Under a Restore Britain Government, those rioting Moroccans on the streets of London last night would be immediately deported.
In truth, many would already have been shipped out prior to the rioting.
This is because the anti-capitalist left is not actually against people being crazy rich. They're against certain types of people being crazy rich.
Artists and athletes make sense to them because they've played music and sports and because their success can be explained by "luck" and "talent". Messi's wealth is not offensive to them because they understand Messi is much better at football than they are.
But when it comes to business, the anti-capitalist leftist has no framework for understanding why Jeff Bezos might be super rich since 99% of them have never ever created a product, business or service that was of value to other people. They've never taken entrepreneurial risk. They've never employed people and felt the burden of responsibility that comes with that. They've never pick up a business and given it a play in the way they've picked up a ball or a guitar.
They *literally* don't understand wealth creation. They think there is a fixed amount of money and the only thing a business does is split it unfairly.
It's why they rage at Elon and other successful business leaders. Because they genuinely don't understand why they're wealthy.
Also, and this is just as important, athletes and artists are disproportionately young, attractive, "diverse", left wing etc. Business leaders are "evil" middle aged white men whose success offends the average anti-capitalist leftist because they don't understand a) what it is they do and b) that Elon Musk has the same talent advantage on them as Messi does, it's just harder to measure.
Two thoughts from Adrian A. Gill

“America is Europe’s greatest invention.”
They don't look.
People in FED, ECB, and major institutions have been told how to look at Economy and Markets.
Nobody dares to do something else - even though the fail again and again!
The USA has far more socialists and communists than people would like to believe. Especially amongst the youth.
If you send your child to university to study something in the 'Humanities', there is a good chance they'll become a communist.
They'll also have a lot of debt.
Marlon West has done more than any politician to end the Pakistani rape gangs. His daughter is a survivor. He has seen the evil.
If elected as Greater Manchester mayor for Restore Britain, he will go to war with the rape gangs.
Watch this. @MarlonTag is a proper fighter.
UK/EU Session Update: #SPX had a nice clear out.
When Truthbombs do more damage to a market than actual bombs, you know how things are trading.
Trump's threat of a response saw stocks freak out but they recovered quick enough, and then pretty much did nothing through the overnight attacks.
It was all for show.
What hasn't changed is the markets mood to hit the sell button far harder than the buy button.
Yesterday's bounce off the low took us back to the broken 7400/7390 level, which is now resistance.
Support at 7345/50 is currently being retested and if it breaks, we might be low 7300's not long atfer, and maybe even going for another look under the figure.
If that happens, the 7277 level that broke easily yesterday but confirmed on the bounce, is worth watching again.

Bond markets are imploding: Central concern for markets
What does it all mean for risk assets? Will markets force Trump to TACO?
