If i had a nickel for every long running Japanese science fiction franchise that Americans demand must laser focus on a specific topic no matter what despite the franchise's strength being it's diversity of storytelling potential, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Finished Dino Crisis last night. Awesome game. They took the laboratory and office environments from RE and based the whole experience around them. There's something uniquely uncanny about being chased by low-poly velociraptors through sterile utilitarian hallways. Insane OST
People always talk shit on Toei but when you look at their long running series (past just their shounen anime) you see they've a breeding ground for numerous talented animators/directors for decades now.
Oh I'm well aware of the shit GQX got. They also freaked out about IBO over Barbatos. Hell, I remember similar complaints about Reconguista's G-Self, a Tomino design. And while I wasn't old enough for the discourse all the way back then, but I've been told of similar protests over Syd Mead's rendition of Turn-A that Tomino specifically requested be more abstract.
Gundam is nearly 50 years old now! Pretty much every other toyetic franchise around that age, especially the one Bandai plays around with, have all hit the point where the icon and flagstaff of the franchise is now its own motif that later designs reference and change on their own to stand out. This is no different.
I’ve been called a racist a lot lately, but today I’m going to say it.
If Japan is going to be destroyed by taking in too many immigrants,
then I would rather see Japan decline without taking them in.
A country should not have to survive by losing itself.
"basically 2k at this point"

Resident Evil Has Always Been Like This
Legendary director Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, ONE PIECE FILM RED) says anime is being made like "junk food" due to lack of directorial oversight
"If that’s the way they intended to make it, that’s fine. But it’s not; it’s junk food made as a result of the process. That’s dangerous."
He also said that the training system falls apart due to the increase in 1-cour anime, citing only major studios like Toei Animation, TMS Entertainment, and Shin-Ei Animation as having managed to successfully deal with the problem.
