I have seen undergrads doing the same job as PhDs but in certain situations the way good PhDs approach problems is completely different.

But, as I remember from my college onboarding, one of the profs mentioned that their job is to not only train for the first job but also the last job.

@championswimmer Addressing religiosity or corruption directly is analogous to fixing symptoms and not the root cause. Corruption and even election fraud was rampant in the US and Britain before they developed. I was particularly amused to read about buying votes by giving free drinks.
