Most are calling for 1 to 4 inches of rain in the dry areas in Brazil. So that is going to be the biggest thing to watch going into the new year. How much of it falls, and will it be like in the past where they put rains in 1-2 weeks out only for it to disappear as we get closer.
There is a couple weather guys who think that will be the case again with these rains.
Then you have some that think these rains will stabilize the crop and stop the bleeding.
As far as the damage done to the corn crop, with the acres not getting planted. I think that’s real and I don’t think that can be fixed.
I think they could stabilize the bean crop in some areas depending on how far the crop is along.
When we come in here on Tuesday, it’s probably gonna set the stages up until the USDA report in mid January.
If we get a lot rain, we will take it on the chin here short term. Be prepared if you are in that situation where you don’t have stuff protected and need to sell.
If we get good rain and if the funds decide it’s enough to push this thing down, the amount of corn the farmers are sitting on, the path of least resistance short term could very well be lower.. longer term we still think we will see higher prices.
But we need to realize short term that if you put yourself in the position short term where you are going to have to market grain and don’t like the price, you have to find a way to protect it….
Listen to today’s audio where we go over all of the risks in our markets short term, who should be selling and when, and how to manage risk in a bear market.
