@iBrews I just saw this UE Plugin today so if you've already looked at it I apologize, but in the video it demos a camera rigs system for generating Gaussian Splats from content in UE5. https://t.co/LxGcyEfy8u

I was at CES in 2023 and was able to demo PS VR2 at the Sony booth, Pico VR & Lynx at the Ultrahaptics Booth, Pimax Crystal and some others. The main thing would be are any AndroidXR hardware companies planning on showing anything at CES 2025. Its not clear how far along anyone but Samsung is.
@iBrews Even the Meta native C++ SDK has Multimodal support. The native SDK also includes the OpenXR extensions for Multimodal according to the docs. Feels like all that's missing for UE support is someone at Meta caring.
Meta's fork of Unreal Engine still hasn't fixed the issue we reported to them in May where moveable lights don't work.
Additionally, development builds don't allow for the console and all logging seems to be disabled. No crash reporting either.
ASW remains the magic framerate doubler, but it's becoming less and less worth using Meta's fork just to get it.
@iBrews The lack of Multimodal Input, Meta Avatars and a few other things from the UE Meta SDK is annoying. The recent addition of the Meta Interaction SDK for UE is a start but its missing a ton of functionality compared to the Unity SDK. Meta's UE locomotion sample is a travesty...
@pvncher I asked @boztank & @mrabkin after Meta Connect if the new 2D windowed app support on Quest would allow for stereoscopic content and got no response. I think playing a Stereo 3d game in a floating window could be a compelling experience.

@DShankar Apparently they made an update in August 2023 that changed the Unity Industry License.
"Unity Industry plan is required if you create applications outside of games or entertainment and your company's total finances exceed US$1,000,000."
BS...
Nothing annoys me more than technology platforms that treat developers poorly.
I rarely met developers that are happy about using Unity. Most are frustrated with the way it treats developers, and with the bloat of the engine. They tolerate Unity. Unity is ripe for disruption.
I've been arguing with @unity for weeks now because they sent us a notice that we are a "B2B" company focused on "Industry" and not "Gaming" or "B2C" – therefore Unity demands a 5X monthly fee.
Such hostile demands are laughable because we're a B2C gaming company, with a game on Meta Quest and Steam.
Any advice for how I can tell Unity to F%#$ off?
Playing PC VR games on Apple Vision Pro is easy now with ALVR's latest update! 🙌
There are 3 controller options:
🔴 Using the native hand tracking
🔵 Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons
🟢 Or SteamVR controllers

@zacharyjohnson I stumbled across SleekDB a few weeks ago and tested it in a React/SleekDB/PHP/Twig stack. Lovely for simple things. Easily deploys anywhere. (probably don't try and build facebook with it though...)
