BREAKING: THE NPA STATEMENT EXPOSES THE LIES AGAINST THEMBA MATHIBE.

The R2m claim by the media was a lie. The "cash-in-transit heist" report was a lie. The entire media narrative was built on fabricated figures planted by rogue police sources. And the NPA's own statement has just confirmed it.

South Africa, we need to talk.

The NPA's Office for Ethics and Accountability has reviewed the Themba Mathibe docket and found that the amounts reported by the media "do not correspond with the facts contained in the docket." The actual amount seized was LESS than R500,000

Someone inflated the figure by more than 5x and fed it to every newsroom in the country. Let that sink in.

The NPA, the prosecuting authority of this Republic, is saying there was NO R2 million. There is NO evidence in the docket of R2m being seized. There is NO evidence linking any money to a cash-in-transit heist. NONE. Zero. The "heist" narrative was planted in the media to smear an innocent man. It was a fabrication designed to make a ‘money laundering charge’ sound like armed robbery, because "CEO found with little money" doesn't destroy careers the way "R2m heist cash" headline does.

So who planted these lies?

Media outlets all cited "police sources." Someone inside law enforcement, a “Brown Mokgotsi” within SAPS, deliberately leaked inflated figures and a fabricated heist connection to journalists. This was not a mistake. This was a calculated operation to destroy a 28-year-old CEO in the court of public opinion before he ever set foot in an actual court.

And this is not speculation. The Madlanga Commission has shown us, under oath, with testimony from senior SAPS officers, exactly how this works. Fabricated intelligence reports. Manipulation of dockets. Rogue operatives running their own agendas. Political interference at the highest levels. Lt-Gen Sibiya admitted to interfering with dockets. Crime Intelligence has been exposed as compromised. The same SAPS that raided Mathibe's home with a Special Task Force is the same SAPS the Madlanga Commission has found to be broken, lawless, and weaponised against individuals.

South Africa is a crime scene. And the criminals are wearing uniforms.

They destroyed this young man's reputation. They linked his name to potential crimes he has absolutely nothing to do with. They convicted him in headlines and on timelines before a single piece of evidence was tested in court. And only NOW, after the damage is irreversible, does the truth emerge from the NPA's own investigation.

Having cash in your house is NOT a crime. SARB regulations on domestic currency are clear. There is no law preventing a South African citizen from holding Rands in their own home. This is NOT Phala Phala. There is no undeclared foreign currency, no USD stuffed in furniture, no exchange control violation. Yet a young CEO has been treated badly by rogue elements who want to remove him from his position.

The questions South Africa must answer:

1. Who planted the R2m figure in the media?
2. Who inside SAPS leaked the fabricated "heist" narrative?
3. Who benefits from Mathibe's removal as CEO of JDA/JOSHCO?
4. If the R2m was planted, can we even trust the “less than” R500k figure reported, or was that manipulated too?
5. How many other lives have been destroyed by this same machinery?

It looks like those who tried to frame Mathibe used their “Brown Mokgotsi” inside SAPS to plant lies in the media, manufacture a heist narrative out of thin air, and systematically destroy the life of a young, performing CEO. Even the narrative of "heists" was planted in the media to smear an innocent man. The NPA statement is clear. The evidence of the smear is now on record.

The only question left: will anyone be held accountable for this, or will they move on to their next target while Mathibe picks up the pieces of a life they tried to destroy?

Themba Mathibe deserves justice. Not just in court, but from the very system that was used to try and break him
