Unfancied in the 800 she didn’t really want to run it, came from nowhere sprinted the last 150m and blew everyone away winning gold & breaking World Record..then retires!

@thorneh I know the feeling...our family staycation in the early 80’s were the Malvern Hills near Midsummer Hill...walked the full length as a teenager many times ; stopping for tea near British camp somewhere...awesome part of the world!

@thorneh @Anna_Dillon Indeed one for the Arthurian experts...it is a fair stretch to put Arthur at Lowbury...but as a likely Chieftan of the so called post Romano Brits or Celts / Welsh (Wallingford ...Wealh’s people) it’s in the realms of romanticised possibility!

@Anna_Dillon @thorneh Fascinating book and even more intriguing...the OS map suggests a ‘spear’ rather than sword...so possibly more evidence...or a mistake of sorts on the OS side; also Monckton’s book casually suggests Ashdown? Where does Moncton believe Ashdown to be do you think?

My morning run from Moulsford to Deans Bottom...not a saxon spear or Viking helmet in sight...just some ghosts of the Great Dane army in the deep fog: Winter Cabbage and some retreating sheep ‘fleeing’ into Moulsford Bottom...tails between their legs!#battleofashdown
