Reminder to every UK uni worker who pays into USS pension. When your pay packet goes up magically in January, it's because of several years of diligence and exhausting industrial action by UCU members
Our fundamental right to strike is now under attack. If there was ever time to join a union, this is the moment. We will not be forced into quiet, sheep-like submission with the relentless institutional violence of declining pay and working conditions. Join us in the fight.
Despite challenging times, we've had a big surge in membership over the last two months, composed both of new colleagues & existing staff joining for the 1st time. Welcome to all of you; we look forward to seeing you in branch meetings & working together for a better future❤️✊
CONFIRMED: @QMUL management covered up disastrous staff survey results for months to protect themselves – apparently to protect themselves from the boogeymen that are ... QMUL workers...👻
A thread:
Sunday Inspo: While our pay situation remains dire, on Friday we were notified of a USS pension consultation that will see benefits wrongly removed in 2022 fully restored in April 2024. This only happened because UCU members took action. Striking works. Support your union ✊
Day 4 of our strike. During the summer MAB, mgmt said it was a national dispute about which they could do nothing, and refused to call for UCEA negotiations. The current dispute is local, and could solved entirely by @StirUni alone. Will we hear from them today?
So begins the 3rd day of our local strike action. We should be teaching, inducting new students, doing research, and helping the university run, but here we are. Will management respond to us and enter negotiations today? We hope so; it's what our students deserve
We are pleased that following negotiations and pressure from members Sussex VC has announced that staff will see 100% restoration of salary deductions for MAB participants upon completion of outstanding marking.

Tomorrow marks the start of 10 days local strike action for our branch @StirUni . We desperately do not want to strike now, but have been left with no choice after suffering over 3 months of 50% salary deductions, some of the very harshest in all of Scotland @ucu@UCUScotland
@runnermdj Not surprised that 2020 was a slow one, what a battle with the wind that was! My time of 1:04:40 was typically average 😆 p.s. good stats! Do you have the median for each year?
We still have to stay close to our local areas to keep our communities safe, so we ask you to continue to keep your tents, campervans and caravans at home for just a little bit longer. We will issue information here, when we can welcome you all back again, as soon as we have it!
We are aware of a #POWERCUT in the #FK2, #FK7 and #FK8 postcode areas of #Falkirk and #Stirling. Our engineers are working to restore supplies. Sorry for the inconvenience.
