@NateSilver538 It does make sense. The military has made it clear, for a few years now, that they are not expanding in or entering states that limit the freedoms of personnel. Alabama certainly falls under that umbrella.
@DamianNB@GeorgeTakei Doesn't mean a lot when these same corporations also donate to anti lgbtq+politicians. The same politicians which have introduced over 400 anti lgbtq+laws this year alone.
@BunTharun@EbenThurston@_chris_p@NateSilver538 The studies seem to be dealing with extreme wealth. Even so, it's not like the third generation is poor. They just never received, or spent, the last of the wealth. They still have all the opportunities that come with not being poor.
@EbenThurston@_chris_p@NateSilver538 You could ask Wesley Snipes. His wealth didn't help him. Maybe a better way to put it is that being white doesn't give a privilege, but not being white creates far fewer opportunities and creates more challenges.
@EbenThurston@_chris_p@NateSilver538 Now look at those numbers by percentage, and saying there are poor white people doesn't really make for a good argument.
@Bschaeffer1234 @RexChapman White families have a 12% poverty rate with a 39% single parent rate. Asians are 13%/31%. Latinos are 25%/59%. Blacks are 27%/76%.
While a single family situation is certainly a factor, these numbers show it can't be the main or only factor.
@Bschaeffer1234 @RexChapman Not really. Your argument doesn't, in any way, explain the causes of the wealth gap. It also completely ignores the history of and the effects of systemic racism, look at housing discrimination for an example.
@Bschaeffer1234 @RexChapman The median white family owns about $184,000 in family wealth, for blacks is about $23,000. Most of that gap can be directly attributed to the systemic racism in this country. How is this type of gap ever going to change without policies like this?
@Gil1957@GeorgeTakei By what definition? "Gender" is a social construct not based on science, unless you can explain, by science, why pink is for girls and blue is for boys or toy guns are in the boys isle and toy houses are in the girls isle. Why is it up to society to decide her gender?
@MarianoMarx_ @cutjunkie@Eric65222494@NateSilver538 Not sure that's an accurate interpretation of the constitution, but if you look at the Federalist Papers, which the Supreme Court does, and how the founding fathers looked at US debt, the debt ceiling seems unconstitutional.
@jake_burdett@BeauTFC I'm not sure I see assault here. He didn't throw you to the ground or push you into an uncontrollable fall. But I'm not a lawyer. Having said that, I do see a First Amendment issue. He is a government official who is definitely infringing on your free speech.
@bosschonk @ApostatePerry @bradybuzz Actually, it should be telling that they can overlook one aspect of Burger they disagree with and find common ground on another. Seems more people should try and do this.
@SeptembersRain@JoJoFromJerz And? It's still a greater number of people. Isn't that how a democracy is supposed to work? When did the amount of land cover come into play?
@BadFCCTakes @celadon2020@SteveSchmidtSES@orchidlady303 The Federal Communications Commission regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.
@JoJoFromJerz "They could come for you"
They could already come for us. At any time. Nothing has changed. The only ones who were protected were the wealthy elites. And if the "change" means that they are now susceptible to accountability, I'm all for it.
@_sun_yi@SethMacFarlane@RadioFreeTom Not sure I agree. Trump backed candidates, and the GOP as a whole, did worse than expected in every election since 2016 and this time around Trump doesn't have a Republican Senate, or Barr led DOJ, to protect him.
