Normally, the ONSA was never really meant to function as a primary coordinator of internal security operations. That responsibility should sit more within the core mandate of the Ministry of Interior.

However, if Nigeria eventually develops something closer to a true Homeland Security style department or ministry, then the role currently being played by the ONSA in certain areas would likely migrate there, at least strictly for internal security coordination.

What we will probably end up with is a far more intelligence driven organization focused on fusion of data, interagency coordination, threat analysis, national response management, and integrated internal security architecture.

The duplicity of our security apparatus is what causes growing insecurities across the zones, resulting from overlapping responsibilities. Everyone wants to show relevance or operational value, and collapsing all into one can achieve the same goal.

Under the cover of darkness, sometime past midnight, they came ISWAP fighters creeping in from the Mandunari axis, hoping to catch soldiers at Gonori off guard. But this wasn’t a camp asleep. It was a trap waiting to close.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai had already seen them coming.

An ambush team picked up their movement early. Within moments, calm turned to controlled chaos. By first light, the battlefield told its own story scattered weapons, abandoned gear, blood trails, and the grim evidence of a force that came to attack… but left broken.

Guys, always stand up to shake hands. If the other person is older than you, it shows respect. If they are younger than you, it shows humility. Either way, you win. People who sit to shake hands are bad-mannered.

When you shake hands, do not just offer a limp hand... even to an elder! Make sure that your handshake is firm. It shows confidence and fitness.

Then make sure that you look into the person’s eyes. It shows interest, attention and confidence. Don’t look away furtively like a liar and a thief!

Remember, as a man, there should be nothing limp or flaccid about you. You should always be polite and gracious, quietly confident (not arrogant, that is for inferior men) and erect. Always erect!
