From VHS to AI: A Thanksgiving Journey Through Time 🚌 ⏰

At Thanksgiving 🦃, I am reminded of my days as a West Point Cadet and those long 6-hour bus rides from West Point to Washington, DC 🚍. Back in 1990, my entertainment options were limited to watching Lethal Weapon on loop via VHS 📼.

No internet 🌐
No smartphone 📱
No laptop 💻
Definitely no AI tools 🤖.

Fast forward to today ⏩

Studies show AI tools help professionals reclaim 2-3 productive hours daily 📊 - that is 500+ hours annually, or about 40 of those cadet bus rides! 🎉

What strikes me the most though, is not just how we are saving time ⌛, but how we are transforming what was once 'dead time' into productive moments ✨:

Those are words that definitely never came out of my mouth as a kid, but I have heard it from other children.

Here is how AI transformed a good friend's son's learning experience!

I am late sharing this but a few weeks ago Joshua Alcorn who is a good friend that is deeply involved in helping nonprofits, shared the email attached to this post. (Permission obtained to share)

As you can he shared how he witnessed something remarkable: his son, who typically struggles with math, was actually excited about solving word problems.

The secret? Leveraging AI to create personalized math problems featuring his favorite topics.

The results were incredible: 📈 Engagement level went from reluctant to not just enthusiastic but wanting to share his newfound love of math and word problems with his friends at school! 💡

Problem-solving time decreased significantly 🎯 100% homework completion (with a smile!)

By meeting children where their interests lie, we can turn challenging subjects into engaging experiences. AI is not just a tool; it is a bridge between what students love and what they need to learn. As educators and parents we may not always have the time nor at the end of the day, the creativity to make those connections.

Generative AI has a sense of humor??????????

OK maybe it does not have a sense of humor but it is capable of looking at your cartoons and explaining them!

Last week I posted several examples of how to use the new image analysis (not image generation) feature in BoodleBox.

I gave examples on
1️⃣ Analyzing confusing posted parking restriction signs
2️⃣ Solving a physics problem
3️⃣ Determining what can be made from a picture of your open refrigerator

While I had many people thank me for the ideas which spurred other ideas for them, I did get asked what were the most recent ways I actually used the image generation as I have told people repeatedly that I not only use BoodleBox weekly or daily but most days I use it hourly.

So I decided to take a few examples from this past weekend and share them with you.

1️⃣ My father sent me a cartoon joke (yes he is retired and spends his day sending me a variety of these which I of course appreciate so greatly). My six year old son asked what it meant. While he could read the joke he has never seen a record and I think he only saw a cassette tape during our last move when we were cleaning house to make the move easier. Rather than me trying to explain it to a six year old, I asked BoodlBox to do it for me. (SEE COMMENTS)

2️⃣ Then this weekend my son received a new Millennium Falcon Lego set he has been asking for and started asking about each of the characters and when they appear in Star Wars. I have to admit my Star Wars game is not as strong as it should be, but BoodleBox had my back.

3️⃣ I have been a loyal Vivino user for years when I want information about wine, but with the BoodleBox ability to bot stack and have multiple AIs collaborate to bring me feedback, I may be switching.
