@jhpadillaleal@TwilightFartFic@PaulTassi Funcom has multiple completely dead MMOs on its roster which it's keeping the servers on for but which it put into maintenance mode because they weren't making enough money to justify continuing development; it's not that deep.
@Havoc616_ Hi; minor thing, but your essence drain build on Maxroll currently has items in the "early maps" section that are going for over 8 div (the focus for instance, even without the cast speed). Are there any alternatives that work at this point?
@Jarro4multivers@PaulTassi Think it's more likely they get turned into a support studio than that they get fully shuttered, although if all you care about is the games that looks pretty much the same.
@SchreckWot@PaulTassi@ThePhantomKingX I love Destiny, but by all accounts it has been nothing but a sinkhole for Sony over the last few years, and Bungie was struggling hard even before the acquisition. Marathon may be struggling as well, but it seems to also be significantly cheaper to run and make content for.
@AestheticGamer1 It's not like we don't have precedent for how this plays out. In the 20s and 30s we had labour camps in Canada for "vagrants," and then there's also, like... You know, literally everything Charles Dickens ever wrote. These policies suck+don't work+make things worse+kill people.
@SerratedViper@everx@totithoth Like, this is not a smug post. I have over a thousand hours in D2, and people losing their income and stability is always a fucking nightmare regardless. I just don't see how increasing the price helps here; D2 was already more expensive to get into than most MMOs.
@SerratedViper@everx@totithoth Income have been stagnant for longer than videogame prices have been, and cost of living has gone up significantly within the same timeframe. If the problem is that the average consumer "should" be paying more for what is entirely a luxury product, then the industry is doomed.
@MarcMillerVM@liberal_party Why not try regulating the companies involved to help minimize the harm it causes to people of all ages, rather than just clutching your pearls about its impact on children specifically?
@GaryPayyton@heartofskalitz They literally fired a guy and replaced him with AI tools; they are absolutely not just using them to make the devs' lives easier.
@G0ffThew In particular this often ends up centering the conflict between the two male characters who have to compete to "win" the female character, which often ironically deprives the female character of choice even if the story otherwise respects her agency
@G0ffThew Also like if there's a major female character in a piece of media there's like an 80% chance she's gonna be forced into a love triangle whether it makes sense or not; why a lot of media critics started treating them as always bad.
