It is called De javu and it is the same with what Yoruba call “ami ara so mi” (my body tells me).
Many attribute literal meaning to it but it’s far beyond that. It is just one of the method through which our spirituality speaks with us.
Try this.
For everytime you have de javu, stop fighting it, stop seeing it as a strange sign or rebuking it. Instead, accept it and listen. Usually when you start doing these, it will become clearer to you and you will understand why the feeling came. It can be giving you a clarity of the past or the moment or allowing you to correctly predict the next moment.
Now let me share two instances de javu has helped my life.

1. While in school (Bowen), in 400l, I and my guys usually make mockery of one person per day (just guys things) and normally we stop once it’s close to the moment of fight. It was my turn to receive the blow of mockery that day and I wasn’t receiving it well because we had exam the following day. My BF (Dolapo) took it upon himself to frustrate me that day. And boom, fight broke out. As I was about to push him, I had de javu and it felt like he got seriously injured. I restrained myself and my eye contact a nail protruding out of the wardrobe I wanted to push him against. I went cold and just left the room. Till today, I believe he can’t know why I went cold suddenly.

2. In the year 2022, I was driving through osogbo-ibadan expressway and I had de javu after seeing some settings by the roadside. It felt so strange that I had to slow down to 60km/hr and as I was making a sense of this, just that moment, a Camry big daddy swerved to my side suddenly and unfortunately, it took me out of the road. At that speed, I was still able to control the car a bit but a tree stopped it eventually. What if it was at high speed? I would have met myself in the ditch.
