If there's a lesson to take from these NBA Finals, it's that you don't build a team that looks like the Spurs, the Thunder or the Knicks. You can't do it. You can build the best possible team around your best players and hope that you create something good enough.
ESPN sources: Green Bay WR Christian Watson and the Packers reached agreement today on a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension that includes a $31 million signing bonus.
Rough session for rookie kicker Trey Smack. Went 5 of 9 into a strong crosswind.

Spot on @AllenSliwa . Just listened to today’s show, and there’s no doubt that roster construction is the biggest issue that LAL has had. JJ is ascending and is already top 5 coach imo. Give him the ingredients to cook Rob/FO
The Lakers had a round of layoffs today affecting a number different departments as the team continued a reorganization after its sale a year ago. Was described to me as a “brutal” day inside the team offices
Rohan Ramadas is on board for the evolving Lakers’ front office - which has had involvement from Andrew Friedman and Farhan Zaidi in interviews and at pro days (free) https://t.co/fVokGSbGsV
The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring former New Orleans Pelicans vice president of strategy and operations Rohan Ramadas as an assistant general manager under president Rob Pelinka, sources tell me and @mcten. The Lakers have interviewed candidates to bolster their front office.
Luka Dončić was named to the All-NBA First Team for the 6th time. Only 4 other players in NBA history have done so by age 27: Tim Duncan (7); LeBron (6); Oscar Robertson (6); and Bob Pettit (6).
Dončić led the NBA in scoring (33.5 ppg), ranked 3rd in assists (8.3) and 6th in steals (1.6).
Just asking for anyone to make it make sense. Everyone who covers team is critical of Rob, (RIGHTFULLY SO!!) but nobody says why his job is safe, that’s all. I have a very difficult time imagining Mark Walter and group putting up with multiple transaction cycle mistakes.
@LakersHMA Great show guys, and all of you do great work. Not questioning @jovanbuha saying Rob is “safe” for the next 5 seasons per @mcten reporting, but can someone please explain to @Lakers fans why that’s the case when @_JasonLT referenced 9 unsuccessful transaction cycles?

Listening to your show a little late @AllenSliwa , and you are spot on regarding AR. Quite possibly not the best fit, and while Luka isn’t old, it’s not like the Lakers have 5 years to figure this out. The next 2 transaction cycles (summer, trade deadline) are so critical.
IF this is true, I don’t get it. From the missed draft picks, (JHS, Dalton mainly) to letting impact players go, (Caruso) to the inability to acquire 2 way talent, etc. I don’t think Mark Walter and his group will tolerate not being aggressive. Rob is on the clock. @AllenSliwa
The Lakers are reportedly NOT planning on making massive roster changes this offseason:
“Increasingly, it looks like the massive changes fans want for the Lakers aren’t quite what the team has in mind. The plan appears to be to keep Austin Reaves, at something less than the maximum $240 million-plus, and to seek solutions at the center spot, an annual tradition in LA. Beyond that, dreams of adding restricted free agents Walker Kessler or Peyton Watson or Jalen Duren are almost certainly not happening.”
