Key messages from the side events we participated yesterday in #COP27
1. Local civil society organizations should be empowered by providing the finance to implement their climate action activities and should not use the excuse that they do not have the capacity to manage funds.
Climate change is a new phenomenon in our society that requires extensive education and public awareness in order to properly educate our people about the implications and preventive measures of this crisis.

Developed countries have failed to meet their commitment by providing $100B/year to developing countries.
The global north bears responsibility for assisting climate-vulnerable countries. a climate debt that is owed.

Mobilizing funds is the top most priority for combating climate change impact. Zero emitter countries such as #Somalia ought to have access to grants and not ‘loans’ to put in place adaptation programs.

Finance and bilateral agreements must be the #Somali delegates' top priorities. If Somalia cannot directly receive funding from the UNFCCC, we have the chance to make a bilateral agreement to get support for the issues related to drought, water, & energy crises.
