Who says stats canโt be fun? ๐โจ
Dr. Kellyโs students got hands-on last week, testing out the famous bell curve ๐ and proving for themselves how data really falls into place. Learning + a little discovery = the best kind of class! ๐ #ThisIsCatholicU
Teaching a grad seminar on #facialexpression, FACS, and #emotion; don't want to snag internet images w/o ppl's knowledge but want those absolute gem (real & spont) expressions for student quiz. If have handy, please share a good one of you, and caption it w/your emo at time. TY!
#ISRE2024 attendees, I need your tool expertise! I've only ever manually coded my FACS scores but that's, y'know, super slow. So many of your talks referenced successful automatic FACS coding. If you are in the know, what does one use? (allโoptionsrequested but <$=morefeasible)
Proud to have won @ISREorg's 2022 dissertation award!

My 3yo watched some Pride & Prejudice with me earlier today.
Her at dinner, hand to breast, about her father:
"What a fine summer meal Mr. Bingley has prepared"
Earlier, dancing:
"That is sparkly true, Bennett, I dear assure you!"
Me: *brings our vacuum upstairs to get the pine needles*
Toddler, accusingly: "oh! That's not for you! That's Daddy's!"

That was quite a beautiful reminder of what an excellent, excellent spouse I have in that man.
I keep reteaching this to myself periodically, so let me post it here:
In a #zoom meeting, click the little video icon at the top left of the meeting window and select "Keep on Top". Your meeting video will now stay on top of other applications as you select them.
You're welcome.
@JusttheZooofUs@baileys I'm so glad you and all these types of statements are on my timeline to break up the academia. Scrolling through feed goes "bitter grant comment, political acidity, virtue signaling, PICTURE OF A FROG FEELING SOME KIND OF WAY, gross institutional dictate, job market lament..."
@Volsicle yep. Harder tho when the prof emails right back to say "yes, join me now".
There are some who won't be helped.
But I'll try. Concrete tips, like "don't skip the 8 pt. questions on your untimed open book exam and you'll do much better next time".
Read a new email, "do you have office hours today".
Got it while sitting alone in my regularly scheduled zoom office hours.
It had been preceded by its elder sibling email, "what chapters is the test on today".
I have advice.
