@TheoMoudakis@TorontoStar With 100s of groups including hundreds of thousands of people in Ontario raising concerns and detailed critiques of Premier Ford's mishandling of health care (deliberate underfunding), protecting the greenbelt (sell-offs), and affordable housing -the opposition is easy to find.
Obsolete interest rate strategy will make recession worse https://t.co/xhTrb4fOp6 via @thespec Time to shift focus to improving living standards, and fund housing initiatives in part through tax on excess profits.
Bill 23 is nothing short of a frontal assault on local democracy, the role of civil society, ecological sustainability, protecting green spaces, growing our own food, reducing fossil fuel emissions and building truly affordable housing. Voice your concern.
Bill 23 will NOT create more housing or improve affordability but will supercharge wasteful urban sprawl, undermine environmental protection, threaten farmers, prevent climate resilient communities + transfer money from taxpayers to land speculators and developers.
@R2HTO Totally agree. A big part of the solution also hinges on tying the higher densities created through housing intensification plans to firm commitments requiring that at least 30% of the units created are affordable to households with incomes in the lowest two income quintiles.
In the works is a deal to broker a private public partnership (P3) to privatize the Canadian plasma supply system. That would make CBS a major stakeholder financially profiting from the harvesting and selling of Canadian plasma.

We must both understand our connection to and that our very survival as a species depends on recognizing that our heart, mind and spirit is rooted in and dependent upon the ecosystems that we share and inhabit with all living things.
As Lovelock wrote before he died, “humans must learn to live in partnership with the Earth, otherwise the rest of creation will, as part of Gaia, unconsciously move the Earth to a new state in which humans may no longer be welcome.” #ClimateCrisis

For years @JustinTrudeau and the @liberal_party have promised serious action to combat climate change. However, reports suggest that the #Canada is falling short in its goals. The real solution is to prioritize the working class in a green transition: https://t.co/DWjtDMk1o4
We often hear about the benefits of universal basic income or #UBI in regards to alleviating #poverty, so why aren't we developing such a program? Most #Canadians, irrespective of age and income support UBI, according to a 2020 @angusreidorg poll: https://t.co/dlNpwHYJ0G
In #LatinAmerica, the first discussions surrounding the Escazú Agreement concluded that the general public needs to be involved with striving for and promoting "environmental democracy". Check out more on our website: https://t.co/B0Csf48g7V
Economies change over time, so why doesn't #Canada have an #employment insurance program that makes sense in 2022? One particular major shortcoming includes the lack of inclusion for precarious work being undertaken by more and more Canadians. Learn more: https://t.co/vH5KwZMw8v
Every once in a while, we hear about the #ClimateEmergency or how the #climate is changing for the worse, but only for about a day. Simply hearing about this emergency and how it 'still is' one is certainly not enough. Actions speak louder than words: https://t.co/DRapCR6A7c
With the world shifting further into multipolarity, the #GlobalSouth needs to redevelop a position of nonalignment, thereby fostering an alternative foreign policy. A new NAM requires strong adherence to the needs of ordinary people, not Western leaders: https://t.co/o34FxsUwHp
Worker-owned cooperatives are on the rise in #SurreyBC. Even in the #UnitedStates co-ops have grown by over 30% between 2019 and 2021. While #COVID contributed to this growth, poor working conditions came first. To learn more, check out our website: https://t.co/g97eCN8QcM
Digital learning is not new, but #COVID intensified the transition towards conducting education online. With restrictions having been lifted in many parts of the world, online learning is now more likely to be driven via #AI instead. Here are 4 lessons: https://t.co/6XXFixTIBr
#Canada knows that its telecom industry is nothing more than "three companies in a trench coat". The merger of Shaw and #Rogers only shows a small part of the history. Nationalization is certainly a pipe dream at the moment, but there's still hope: https://t.co/Thbe97E3sP
The #Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has, despite being a federal institution, routinely pushed for the privatization of key services such as #water, #transportation, and #electricity. To learn more about proposed changes to the CIB, check us out here: https://t.co/F4aeSFJOgZ
To embrace progressive environmentalism, one must also understand the necessity of pursuing greater democratic initiatives in the context of the state. A great example includes the embrace of "ecological planning" by @JLMelenchon in #France. Learn more: https://t.co/BzC2Lg8kSb
#Inflation is on everyone's mind with prices skyrocketing in recent months. The @bankofcanada proscribed a hike in #interestrates in an attempt at 'halting' the rise of inflation. However, history tells us this doesn't work and that we need a new approach: https://t.co/kbdQ46FGTT
Even though #Ontario is entering another #COVID19 wave, public health restrictions are effectively non-existent now. Despite this, precarious work remains extremely common for many workers. A healthy recovery from COVID necessitates decent work for all: https://t.co/10LobiGVaY
Canada's Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP) is reckless and is projected to fail under current #ClimateCrisis conditions. It doesn't meet the criteria of credible net-zero emissions plans. However, a better world is still certainly possible. Learn more: https://t.co/uxcTyI7Y2Q
