Our narrative is for Scottish Education For All, to improve our comprehensive education building on universal, inclusive curriculum 3-18 to lifelong learning
As individuals throughout the UK enjoy their weekend, the same can't be said for lecturers in Scotlands Colleges.
Deeming - the 100% reduction in salary commenced for @EISFela
The reason for the deduction, for taking part in legally obtained ASOS : Action Short of Strike.
As such lecturers will have 100% deduction of salary per day, including at the weekend.
Employers are using anti trade union tactics, to withhold all money, for not carrying out 1% of the job. This has resulted in increased anxiety, stress, financial strain & hardship,
@toby6385840 FE lecturers are defending their professional conditions and the integrity of the FE system. They deserve our support and the minister should get off the fence and stop acting as an observer and more like someone who is responsible for such an important part of our economy.
Young people receiving results should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved.
Whether it's university, training or work there's loads of support available for their next steps.
It's my mission to break down barriers to opportunity so all our young people can thrive.
@JohnSwinney@scotgov I am being ‘deemed’ by my principal. First day back at college and getting no pay, How can this be acceptable to you and our government. Please do the right thing, step up and sort this out.
A reminder of the quest for fair pay for @EISFela lecturers & strike action that ensued.
Strike action commences again, as from next week & many lecturers penalised further by unscrupulous bosses, as they take part in action short of strike.
Solidarity @EISFela
The HMRC states that "a deduction cannot normally reduce your pay below the National Minimum Wage".
@theSNP @GraemeDeyMSP
Yet it is acceptable that lectures deemed 100% of their salary for not completing 1% of their job role?
Families plunged into hardship.
Is this fair?
Absolutely shameful that colleges across Scotland are deducting up to 100% from lecturers wages as punishment for taking part in “action short of strike action”. This is not “fair work” and the Scottish Government must intervene.
It is outrageous what is going on in Scotland’s College Sector - the Ministers in charge are a disgrace - they are completely absent - they have no understanding of how colleges change lives
@GraemeDeyMSP
@JennyGilruth
@AlexNeilSNP Just for the record Alex, both sides have been negotiating.....or rather, Fela negotiated, employers failed to.
Meanwhile, government nor ministers intervened. With intervention & much needed financial input from government this could've been settled.
Instead, sat on sideline.
Scotland's colleges face disaster. “It appears that both College Employers Scotland and the Scottish Government are so bloody-minded that they would rather see the college sector collapse than engage in meaningful negotiations.” https://t.co/3behz1UzXB
