It has been such a hectic week that I have barely processed the fact that my first book is out after five long years. But as I opened my email today and saw the flyer that Berghahn sent me, it finally got to me. And finally I shed the elusive tear of joy.
Honored to be a part of these conversations around food and caste for Awaaz in Focus, an initiative of the Centre for New Economics Studies, O.P. Jindal Global University with Shahu Patole, whose book Dalit Kitchens of Marathwada was groundbreaking.

When I started working on this edited book, I was on the verge of submitting my PhD in 2020 and had no clue about academic publishing. My friend had seen this call for books on the sociology of food by Berghahn Books and sent it to me, saying apply.

In this piece for the @IndianExpress - I explore that while the law is a significant site for bringing reform, it is not sufficient on its own and needs to be complemented by social interventions.
