the little boy who gave a little girl his tonka truck knowing his mother couldn’t afford to get him another one, the little boy who asked his brother if he was okay because he saw his cut hand even though he just came back from being kidnapped, tortured, physically violated and literally dead, the little boy who was abused by his father and bullied at school his whole life, the little boy who was treated like shit by his best friends and the boy he’s in love with for no reason, the little boy who loves his best friend and first love so much he remembers every detail about him and knows he likes presents so he worked so hard on a painting for him of their d&d party, the little boy who sacrificed his feelings for the relationship that breaks him and treated him badly just because he wanted the boy he loves to be happy, the little boy who used that love to gain strength and find courage within himself to unlock his powers and save multiple people, the little boy who is a romantic at heart and just wants a relationship like everyone else around him, the little boy who has been through the most horrific things imaginable throughout the entire show yet still remains kind and selfless despite it all, just for the writers to make him suffer even more pain, drag out his unconditional love for his best friend over years, reduce it to a “crush” and then have the fucking audacity to say this is an “important message” to young kids. yeah. such an important message to watch a young kid suffer such horrific trauma and heartbreak that none of us could even imagine going through and then still making him have unrequited love, have the villain threaten him and scare him and use it against him and then force him to come out in front of an entire crowd out of fear while sobbing and having a panic attack.

because in a show with alternate dimensions, kids with telekinesis, monsters, a little girl getting kissed by a little boy she knew for 6 days after escaping a lab and such painfully unrealistic plot armour, you only care about what’s “realistic” when it comes to the gay kid suffering relentlessly, being heartbroken, not getting the one thing he wants and destroying his deep friendship that he’s had with his best friend since he was 5. like not only did you not allow him to have reciprocated love, but you’ve made their friendship awkward and turned the boy he loves into an empty shell that can’t even show emotion or hug him or hold him like he used to. it’s almost like there’s no love there anymore at all.
