In the time that they were gone, however, not much has changed, save for a few exterior things here and there, and maybe his current -

Sure they were both used to being separated from time to time for unknown reason. And it did indeed create curiosity and concern in River for what Lucien was getting up to. Though it would be safe to say River possibly had more curiosity for Lucien and his activities and may -

- adjust his jacket to be slung over his shoulder, the outside air starting to breach an uncomfortable warmth for the likes of one whom already ran so hot, naturally.

- and ultimately disappointing length. Angsty teenage years were indefinitely at fault for most of it, however, and familial disappointment.

Yes, a considerable amount of time /has/ passed, but it wasn’t as if either of them wasn’t used to periods of separation, sometimes unannounced. It was questionable, sometimes evoking a flurry of curiosity and… concern? That must go both ways.

Even so, he made himself easy -

River had been studying Lucien’s face for any hint of a reaction like they always did and was a little taken aback by the bewildered look and astonishment, cheeks turning a light pink the longer they stared up at him.

Damn they had missed him and didn’t realise just how much -

- good…” That was a start, he supposed, for both them and this conversation. “Glad it worked out. … Arrested?”

Does he ask the questions now or save them for later? That much, the bewilderment, let alone astonishment at their admittance, was clearly written on his face, if only briefly. Of course, he’s heard worse from others—hell, has even gotten mixed up in his own misgivings -

There was a difference with this disappearance as it hadn’t been part of their usual behaviour for once. This time it had been a forced absence. But now they were back and they wanted nothing more to make up for their time away.

As Lucien stepped away from the circle he had -

- here and there. Rather than blatantly blurt out an onslaught of questions, a hand merely rose to tangle in the brunette locks at the back of his head. “Huh.”

Truly, wasn’t a man of many words when he needn’t be, but consider this a rare moment of astonishment. “Help is -

- posse of sorts, almost as if to exclude them into more of a private setting.

“Back from a trip or something? It’s been a bit, I’d say.”

It was hard to discern whether there was a feeling associated with their disappearance—not to be confused with anything negative, however. Perhaps it was more so along the lines of confusion, but it was predictable. This wasn’t quite the first time, was it? Usual behavior -

Of course River knew the others memory was much too perfect to actually forget them. Perhaps it was more fitting to say they hoped he didn’t dismiss him, either out of anger or sadness for their disappearance.

It was all too easy for River to find the other in these parts, -
