Most monitoring apps log what happened, not why production dropped. Fine for the manufacturer. Less fine if you paid $25K and have no independent read on whether the system is doing its job. Has anyone caught underperformance by digging into their data?

What can cause that gap and look completely normal in your app: a failed microinverter in part of your array, soiling on a few panels, partial shading from a tree that grew since install. None of these trigger alerts in standard monitoring software.

What does underperforming actually look like? A system that should produce 900 kWh in March and produces 720 kWh is running 20% below. That's not a bad month. That's a problem. The monitoring dashboard would still show green.

Nobody cross-references all of that automatically. Not your installer. Not your monitoring software. They show you the odometer reading. Nobody tells you if you should've driven further.

Your inverter app (Enphase, SolarEdge, SunPower) logs daily kWh. Real number. But whether that number is good depends on how much sun hit your roof that month, your panel specs, your system's age, your roof's orientation. The app doesn't know any of that.
#solar#enphase
Your solar app shows what your system produced. It won't show what it should have produced. Those are different numbers. The gap between them is what nobody measures.
