Low carbon housing features in the government’s new target for 2035. We trust that our efforts over the last 5 years will not be in vain. Onwards and upwards
Another 10 Zero Carbon homes commissioned and occupied by very delighted homemakers in Boncath, Pembrokeshire this week. 7Kw of rooftop PV and 13.8kwH Tesla batteries on these modular timber homes together avoid 70000 tonnes of CO2 over lifecycle. long time in the wilderness
Wood is Good at Ty Solar’s latest solar village, Berllan Aur ( Golden Orchard) in Boncath Pembrokeshire. Let’s hope we have more timber construction in Wales and reduce embodied carbon in new build.
The Heathrow decision is valuable to those of us fighting to develop low carbon housing. Climate Campaigners have the right to challenge any new housing development that does not meet zero carbon targets. Hopfully a shot in the arm for us.
Everyone deserves a warm, dry, safe home to live in. Previous govts’ inaction left too many families living in motels for long periods. Today our Government announced we will support thousands of New Zealanders to move out of emergency housing and into more secure homes ✅✅✅
@JulieJamesAM hugely encouraged by your talk at the IHP seminar last Monday. Your passion for sustainability in Housing and the Future Generations Act was refreshing and a good to signal to those assembled.
@ruthmosalski the ambitious housing programme of 20000 homes must support the Well Being and Future Generations Act more effectively. Otherwise it would be a lost opportunity
Our Ty Solar homes at Trefin near completion. Another 4 high quality affordable homes made in Wales transforming trees to keys for the Well Being of Future Generations.
No incentive in the building industry adopting the Future Generations Act's well meaning principles. Public bodies such as RSLs and County Councils need enforceable targets to stop this Act being relegated to the ideological dustbin. IT'S ALL IN THE IMPLEMENTATION.
@mohuadazzTOI I think this concept of the home as a power station could be replicated in India with substantial benefits to communities that suffer from lack of housing and poor grid connections. See https://t.co/S4vbJPrlNI Happy to contribute to a thought piece.
UK govt plans to scrap PV export tariffs for new domestic homes like Ty Solar only allowing big generators to do so . Please write to your MP to stop this madness which would destroy any hopes of achieving a low carbon agenda and merely subsidise the big energy companies ?
A terrible decision. Is this the time to think of going off grid? Cancelling the right to export surplus energy is a win for Big Energy. https://t.co/j8tERghy24
With Nicky Gavron Head of The London Assembly Planning Committee to discuss Ty Solar and low carbon housing. Off site construction seems to be taking off everywhere
