@FamilyProjectTX You have every right to believe that for yourself. The problem starts when you think everyone else has to live by your religious definition too.
@TheWanderingAzn@ATenaciousDad You’re right. Symbols carry meaning. That’s exactly why a rainbow can symbolize both God’s covenant to some people and acceptance and dignity to others. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
@JonesSidewinder@ItsOnlyMeDude@aj_inapi Some pastors have abused children, committed fraud, and covered up crimes. That doesn’t define all Christians.
So why would one extreme example define all LGBTQ people?
@JonesSidewinder@ItsOnlyMeDude@aj_inapi That’s a nice bait-and-switch. We went from “Pride is bad” to citing the most extreme example you could find and pretending it represents millions of LGBTQ people.
By that logic, every Christian should be judged by the worst thing a pastor has ever done.
@JonesSidewinder@ItsOnlyMeDude@aj_inapi Funny how a rainbow flag is "sexuality in front of children," but kids seeing straight couples, weddings, and romance everywhere is just considered normal.
@RalphCapocci@AmerLifeLeague Pride Month isn’t about arrogance. It’s about dignity and visibility for people who spent generations being told they should be ashamed of who they are.
Also, deciding who is and isn’t a “real Catholic” seems a lot closer to pride than humility.
@contramordor@RepOgles “Morally, historically, politically, culturally” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
History is full of people who were absolutely convinced they were on the right side of morality. That alone doesn’t make them right.
