🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Chelsea have shifted their recruitment strategy by targeting proven Premier League veterans such as Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck, believing experienced leaders can help guide one of the league's youngest squads.
· Club officials feel the squad has lacked leadership and maturity in recent seasons, with experienced players expected to improve discipline, professionalism, and standards on and off the pitch.
· Rather than abandoning their youth-first model, Chelsea plan to combine promising young talent with battle-tested veterans, creating a more balanced squad capable of competing immediately while continuing long-term development.
Chelsea now have six strikers in the senior squad following Danny Welbeck’s transfer, and they intend to have half as many going into the season.
Joao Pedro is going nowhere and is being given a new deal, as The Athletic reported.
Liam Delap is one of the players most likely to go. He joined from Ipswich Town for £30million last summer, but the club are looking for a fee in excess of that.
Nicolas Jackson is valued at £65m and is liked by Aston Villa, while the asking price for Marc Guiu is £25m. All three have interest from clubs in England and abroad.
Emmanuel Emegha, currently recovering from a hamstring injury, is not assured of his role yet.
