🚨 BREAKING: Oromo are reportedly blocking roads between the Somali Region and Oromia and attacking people for speaking Somali or identifying as somali . These allegations raise serious concerns about civilian safety and freedom of movement.
The so-called “federal security forces” are Oromo forces. There is no way Somalis will agree to be disarmed while their land is under attack. Somalis have the right to defend their land and protect their people against anyone who attacks them. Disarmament cannot be used as a tool to leave one side defenseless. #Moyale #Somali
Federal security forces must disarm both sides of the conflict in the Moyale area, allowing only legally registered firearms to be retained in accordance with the law. Particular attention must be paid to heavy weapons. There is absolutely no justification for local militias to possess DShK heavy machine guns and RPGs.
Peace-loving citizens should help security forces identify where these weapons are hidden. It is unacceptable for militias to conceal heavy weapons during peacetime only to retrieve and use them when conflict erupts. Disarming both sides is essential to preventing a recurrence of violence and protecting civilian lives.
