Kesavan won this year's zonal 80m hurdles and 100m running race— barefoot. His father saw him race against athletes wearing spiked shoes at a district-level contest and immediately bought him a pair. Kesavan’s next goal: competing internationally like Usain Bolt.

Congratulations to the EU Parliament on the proposed Soil Monitoring Law. Responsibility has been vested in Member States to decide on appropriate measures to address soil health in their regions; this should promote friendly competition and propel states to act with urgency in order to meet the 2050 goals. Wonderful in intent and consensus. Time is of the essence for Action. May the EU inspire all Nations of the world to prioritize living Soils. Best Wishes. -Sg #SaveSoil @Europarl_EN@EU_Commission@EUCouncil@cpsavesoil

I am One You Millions
I am just One and You are in Millions
How am I a match to your love.
I am just overwhelmed by your love
Yes, I would be fine without anyone
But would be a light that has
nothing to shine upon.
I would be a forest flower that neither
the Bird nor the Bee noticed
But still life would be lit and fragrant.
The overwhelming fulfilment of lighting up
and spreading this joy and love and be
overwhelmed by the reflection, like the moon even
when the sun goes away from us.
Can I say I love you - Too small a thing to say
When I am One You in Millions
-Sadhguru

The global food system is responsible for substantial greenhouse gas emissions and environmental damage. However, farming is not inherently bad for the planet. Regenerative agriculture seeks to actively restore nature while producing food, through practices like planting cover crops, reducing tillage, agroforestry, and shellfish farming. These practices provide climate, water quality, biodiversity, and economic benefits.
Climate change threatens food production through increased extreme weather and disrupted growing seasons. However, widespread adoption of regenerative agriculture could help mitigate and adapt to climate change.
We can also encourage regenerative systems by educating ourselves, talking to farmers and policymakers, minimizing food waste, and diversifying our diets.

Pulses like beans, lentils, chickpeas, and peas are essential in plant-based diets for their high protein and rich nutrient content, including fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They're particularly rich in folate (vitamin B9), vital for growth, especially during pregnancy.
Pulses offer various health benefits for all ages, promoting digestion, regulating blood sugar, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Their complex carbs provide sustained energy and aid in weight management.
Pulses also offer an affordable and sustainable nutrition source. They use less water and fertilizer than animal-based proteins, making them eco-friendly. Acting as nitrogen-fixing plants, pulses enrich the soil by converting atmospheric nitrogen into a usable form, reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers. They enhance soil structure and microbial diversity, boosting soil health and productivity. Including pulses in diets reduces the carbon footprint of food production and supports global food security.

Bringing Farmers Together – Collectives & Carbon Credits
Small and marginal farmers are the most vulnerable to climate change 🚨. The good news? Sustainable soil management practices 🌱 can climate-proof these farmers whilst making their lands an effective carbon sink. On Day 2 of #COP28, a panel of experts at the #SaveSoil Pavilion discussed problems and solutions when it comes to collective farmer action and access to carbon credit markets.
Listen to key takeaways from Helmy Abouleish, CEO of @sekemgroup, @macaulaytjones, Liaison Officer for the Scientific Council at @worldfarmersorg, Jochen Buchmaier, Managing Director of HUMUS+, and Venkat Rasa, Project Director of @Outreach_Isha.

It was a pleasure and honor to meet you Sir. To prevent unplanned migration, it is most important to create a wealth of rich soil, and living wealth in the form of trees and other economically lucrative aspects on the land. -Sg

It is wonderful that for the first time at COP, there is a major declaration on agriculture and carbon credits, with soil being a significant part, endorsed by both government and non-government parties. Soil, agriculture, and farms are crucial because the wellbeing of the next generation depends on them. -Sg
