Does a freedom fighter collect many wives and a small army of children?

Does a genuine refugee get carried by her father’s soldiers while other kids walk for 40 days?

Or does that sound like a commander who could shields his own family from the atrocities he’s at the centre of?

Yet Australian institutions swallowed the freedom fighter story whole - museums, the ABC, ministers.

Why were these basic questions ignored?

Of course she isn’t guilty of her father’s crimes - that’s not the point.

The point is scarcity and honesty.

Was the 18 year old daughter of a well-armed commander with protection networks the most urgent refugee case?

Should public institutions be hanging up his portrait and calling him a freedom fighter when the record includes child-soldiers and links to Kony?

The history is messy and bloody - as is the case for all wars.

But the curated version sold to the public is not - and this has been foundational to her promotion throughout Australian society.

A platform she now uses to accuse that society of systemic racism.

And to claim that the culture that built this society doesn’t even exist.

My biggest criticism of Fukuyama has always been that he remains largely incapable of understanding why other people would have an issue with following 100% of Liberalism.

He is, at his core, a zealot who cannot accept that other people possess different worldviews that react to changes in the world in ways that lead to illiberal conclusions. As such, he concludes that they simply rebel because liberalism is “boring” and that none of them have a vision as to what should replace Liberalism, even though they do have visions that they elaborate upon in their respective works.

My main issue with this segment is as follows:

Frankly, “Post-Liberal” is not appropriate as a definitive ideological framework but is better suited to describe a group of individuals and their ideas that specifically seek to grapple with the circumstances of the End of the End of History (The Post-Liberal World).

As such, expecting to find a coherent “Post-Liberal” vision is much like trying to find a definitive “Liberal” vision. Between all the different kinds of Liberalism and how they all believe society should be ordered, how rights should be determined, and what the role of the government in society is, we find that Liberalism itself cannot provide its own “coherent vision” aside from vague rhetoric concerning rights, individuals, and usually some form of internationalism.

Perhaps Fukuyama knows this, and is simply being bad faith. Or perhaps he really is this ignorant on this matter. I do somewhat like Fukuyama but I know that he’s too intelligent to simply give the benefit of the doubt to on this topic.

I have other criticisms of him and some of his viewpoints on other matters, but those are less relevant.

@Samurai___Lucy Oh I 100% agree! Sorry that wasn’t clear. I’m not a Christian, I’m actually looking into traditional Nichiren Buddhism currently - the SGI is a new religious movement though, thats why I wanted to make it clear.

Yeah I read his bio, the SGI cult also chants Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, there are a few groups that do so, that’s why he has it there - unfortunately it doesn’t seem like he belongs to orthodox Nichiren Buddhism
