@Floxxoo1 I was in elementary school during the mid 2000s, and the teachers discussed all the Native American removals, massacres, and southern slavery at length during history classes. One of my teachers even scolded me for using the word “Indian” instead of “Native American.”
A while ago, I spoke with someone who explicitly told me that Ansar Allah (Houthis) were pursuing regime change in Saudi Arabia. This guy is someone I trust, and he’s not the type to follow the hype or make things up.
Not gonna lie, when he first told me, I thought he was joking or high on khat. I held off on sharing the information because it sounded completely bonkers.
Just days later, a public figure from Ansar Allah (I forgot who) said the same thing. Now, Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a spokesman and member of Ansar Allah’s Political Bureau, has repeated it almost word for word.
He said Yemen supports any move or action inside Saudi Arabia aimed at overthrowing Mohammed bin Salman’s rule, and that this support extends to actions by the public, the opposition, or even members of the royal family.
Then, yesterday, The Wall Street Journal published a report saying that Mohammed bin Salman has been moving cautiously between heavily guarded palaces equipped with bunkers, accompanied by handpicked security guards, amid fears of a potential assassination attempt.
Well, it turns out the guy was right about what Ansar Allah is calling for. Regime change in Saudi Arabia still sounds pretty far-fetched, but apparently, this is something they’re openly talking about.
@dilanesper My bets are that the Trump admin will either cave in to public pressure or a military court will stay it to prevent the livestream. It just doesn’t seem politically palatable to the American public and court systems
@MikeJCzapla@surrenderedflow@RightAllTheTime I feel like an idiot admitting this, but the videos I've seen of tigers honestly reminds me of my own cats. It wouldn't surprise me if that guy conflated cats and tigers together due to the visual similarities, and made the grave assumption of them behaving similarly
@Unknownobserve4 Is the Mali junta regaining any footing these past few months? Some of posts I've read from @SaladinAlDronni gave me the impression that it was slowly returning the tables due to Russian shipment increases and escalation in JNIM vs IS-Sahel fighting
JUST IN: Anti-Troy Jackson ads intended for Maine voters are reportedly appearing in Oregon, sparking speculation that advertisers confused Portland, Maine, with Portland, Oregon.
Infrastructure designed for small populations living in relatively low landmass countries won’t necessarily replicate the same results when inserted into megalith countries.
The problem I have with this argument is that some Asian death penalty states such as Japan and Singapore also have very low homicide rates. It's also assuming what is applicable in one context is translatable to another.
The US and many European countries exist in very different cultural and economic ecosystems, and each developed their social infrastructures under their own unique circumstances.
JD Vance sounded pretty critical of the idea of when asked in an interview this morning, and I’m hoping he’s talking some sense to the Trump admin. Hasan’s execution really needs to happen, but a livestream is only going to make it into a fiasco
@BenStone1066@death_row0506 The first thing people will remember about him is him being shot on livestream, and they will probably be horrified by the fact thay this was filmed. Most won’t look deeper into it.
Not to mention the jihadist propaganda that will be created from footage of his execution.
NEW: Yemeni government-aligned forces reportedly captured Perim Island and recaptured areas around the Bab al Mandeb Strait from Houthi forces on October 9, which reduces Houthi access to territory nearest the Bab al Mandeb and international shipping lanes.
Yemeni government-aligned forces have continued to stall Houthi advances in central Taiz Governorate on October 9 amid Houthi efforts to encircle and capture Taiz City.

@HeatherSin6x5f@dilanesper Generally the Trump admin tends to back peddle when faced severe court and public backlash (like ICE operations in Minnesota, tariffs, and the Iran war), and I don't doubt something if there too many obstacles to livestream Hassan's execution
@HeatherSin6x5f@dilanesper To me, this is simply hegseth trying to posture his perceived image of strength against terrorism, and he might not have any intetions of going through with it.
@AnalyticaCamil1 The trump admin also tends to back down when pressured hard like Iran, tarrifs, and the Minnesota ICE operations. It wouldn't surprise me if they backpedal from livestreaming Hassan's execution if backlash is too much.
