Since 2021, we have explored various ways of teaching sound and music to young people. In the context of the EU’s Erasmus+ programme to support youth education, its main goal is to engage and empower children, teens and young adults, including those with limited access to arts in their environment. 💡

On 6 & 7 November, Sonic Acts took Vertical Cinema to Scanorama film festival in Vilnius, one of Lithuania’s premiere cultural events, to celebrate a decade of cinematic innovation. Launched by Sonic Acts in 2014 with other European cultural institutions, Vertical Cinema is an international collaboration showcasing films crafted for a 35mm projector that is rotated to screen vertical images. The selection of films for Scanorama 2024 included commissioned works by Joost Rekveld, HC Gilje, Susan Schuppli, Karl Lemieux, Lukas Marxt, Telcosystems & Makino Takashi, Billy Roisz & Dieter Kovacic, Manuel Knapp, Johann Lurf, Esther Urlus, and Rosa Menkman.

The Insurgent Learning Workshop wrapped up on 2 November with 'Pedagogy of the Surveilled' – an installation and interactive performance at Singelkerk in Amsterdam. Artists Marshall Trammell & Ghenwa noiré spent a month guiding participants through collective practices meant to express personal archives of migration, uncovering sonic histories from the Levant and postcolonial North Africa.
