Ka’b ibn Malik narrated that Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:

“Two hungry wolves let lose among a flock of sheep are no less destructive to the flock than the desire of a man for wealth and status are to his religion.”

(At-Tirmidhī no. 2376, Ahmad no. 15794—authenticated by Al-Albānī)

There are those who do not care that their earnings are harām due to their love of wealth—it outstrips their fear of Allāh and His punishment. And there are those who love fame, status, limelight and leadership and will do whatever it takes to attain them. So, we seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our souls and from our sinful actions—we ask Allah for sincerity, humbleness and humility.
