"The setting up of this panel of enquiry is to prevent a full-blown communal conflict and also because peace-building is a cardinal programme of this administration — and development cannot take place in the absence of peace," Governor Okowa said.
During the swearing-in of the panel, which has Justice Marcel Okoh as its Chairman, Governor Okowa stated that the panel is mandated to determine the remote and immediate causes of the conflict between the parties in Oleh and Ozoro communities.
Today, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa inaugurated a 7-person Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the land dispute between Oleh and Ozoro communities in Delta State.
Some of the approved roads include:
-The rehabilitation of 11.85km Odimodi, Ogulaha road in Burutu;
-The construction of rigid concrete pavement of 2.025km Stadium Road, Ugborodo in Warri South-West LGA;
Today, at the Delta State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, the EXCO approved the construction and rehabilitation of thirteen roads across the state and a flyover along Ibusa Road at Koka junction in Asaba.
Governor Okowa stated that the state government has concluded plans to set up a taskforce comprising of the police, the military, FRSC officials and the Delta State Traffic Management Authority to help in handling the traffic situation during the holidays.
Governor Okowa stated this while briefing the press at the Government House in Asaba with the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi.
Today, Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa stated that until the second Niger bridge project is completed, the high density of vehicular traffic on the Asaba and Onitsha ends of the bridge would continue to occur during the festive season.
