@lukedepulford In 2010, there was a fire in Shanghai caused by bamboo. In 2017, greenfell tower was burnt due to inferior cladding which should have kept the fire in a room. Bamboo did exactly the same job as these cladding did in greenfell. I do wonder why people never learn from the history.
@lukedepulford Dude, it's true that the netting was the cause of this disaster, but there is no doubt that bamboo did a lot in spreading the fire from a single room to 8 buildings. Without bamboo, the fire couldn't reach the top of the building within 5 min.
@lukedepulford I do agree bamboo is pretty environmental friendly comparing to wood or iron, but if we consider safety, bamboo is awful. China is a country where cigarettes are extremely popular, since drugs are banned. You can imagine how easily a fire could be led by cigarette and bamboo.
@lukedepulford Moreover, my family is farmer in China. In the old time when we haven't acquired enough coal or natural gas, we use bamboo to make fire and cook food, cause it is really easy to get on fire (and cheap).
