Seriously?
An attack on EU/NATO soil injuring Europeans?! And our response is solidarity and yet another useless sanctions package?! Why not add thoughts and prayers while you’re at it? Because standing up to Putin for 700 million Europeans is clearly never going to happen!
Russia’s war of aggression has crossed yet another line.
A Russian drone incursion struck a densely populated area in Romania, injuring civilians.
On EU territory.
We stand in full solidarity with Romania and its people.
As we continue strengthening our security and deterrence, especially on our Eastern border, we will keep increasing the pressure on Russia.
We are preparing a 21st package of sanctions.

USA – Just Another Country Every Ally Gone. Every Bridge Burned.
For decades, the alliance had a problem member. Everyone knew it. The country that invaded Iraq on a lie, tanked the global economy in 2008, and elected its own demolition crew in 2016 and again in 2025. The others adjusted. Covered for it. Kept showing up. You don't abandon a friend just because he occasionally drives into a ditch. You wait until he drives into yours.
Then Trump made it simple. The friend who had always been difficult had finally done something unforgivable. The room went quiet. And then everyone moved on.
America was never strong alone. It was strong because it sat at the center of the most sophisticated network of power ever assembled. British diplomats carrying influence into Canberra and Wellington. French connections opening doors across Africa and the Middle East. Norwegian and Greek shipping moving a third of the world's cargo. German engineering. Japanese capital. South Korean semiconductors. Canadian stability. Australian intelligence. Dutch and Belgian ports as the gateway to 750 million consumers. Danish and Italian naval presence across two seas.
Every one of them a multiplier, lifting Washington into rooms it could never have entered alone. It was not one football team. It was hundreds of teams, running the same plays, on every field, simultaneously. Trump dismantled it the way a bored child dismantles a Lego set. Not to build something else. Just to watch the pieces fall.
What is left is 340 million people staring across the Pacific at 1.4 billion. China did not need to do anything during the Iran war. It watched. It waited. It took notes. While Washington burned its relationships one by one, Beijing made calls, signed deals, and let the silence do the work. Silence, it turns out, is a remarkably effective foreign policy.
The allies are not mourning. They are discovering something they perhaps always suspected: that Washington was often the ceiling, not the floor. The ally that needed managing. The friend whose chaos you had to absorb before you could get anything done. Turns out the meeting goes faster when he's not in the room.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said it plainly: "The old relationship we had with the United States is over. It's clear the US is no longer a reliable partner." At Davos he told world leaders the scaffold of American power was being abandoned. "Friends," he said, "it is time for companies and countries to take their signs down."
Germany said the war had nothing to do with NATO. France blocked arms flights. Spain closed its airspace. Italy denied landing rights. Poland kept its missile batteries home. Kallas delivered the European verdict: "This is not Europe's war. No one wants to actively get involved." Which, translated from diplomat into English, means: absolutely not.
Starmer condemned "regime change from the skies." Sanchez accused Washington of playing "Russian roulette with the destiny of millions." Macron said: "When we want to be serious, we don't say each day the opposite of what we said the day before." Coming from a Frenchman, that is essentially a controlled demolition.
These are the countries that sent their sons to the Gulf in 1991. That stood in line at NATO headquarters on September 12, 2001. They know what the alliance was. They have decided, with remarkable calm, that they are better off without the version currently on offer.
This is what it looks like when an alliance leaves one of its own members behind.
Professor Robert Pape put the result plainly: "Iran is far stronger than it was 40 days ago. It is in control of 20 percent of the world's oil. It is now an emerging fourth center of power." Washington went to war to prevent exactly this outcome. It succeeded, just not in the way it intended.
One country launched a war alone, begged Pakistan to broker peace talks, and came home empty-handed.
French Senator Claude Malhuret said it on the floor of the French Senate, viewed millions of times across the world: "Washington has become Nero's court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a buffoon on ketamine in charge of purging the civil service." Americans flooded his inbox asking why it had to be a French politician to say what nobody in Washington would.
A year later he corrected himself. Nero's court was too dignified. "I was wrong. It is the Court of Miracles." A medieval Parisian slum where criminals and thieves pretended to be something they were not. He listed the cabinet: an anti-vaxxer and former heroin addict as Secretary of Health, a climate denier running environmental policy, an alcoholic television host handed the world's most powerful military, a Qatari lobbyist as Attorney General, a Putin admirer as National Security Advisor. Then he cited a Turkish proverb: "When a clown moves into a palace, he does not become king. The palace becomes a circus."
Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Trump had Truth Social and a golf cart. He posted images of himself as Jesus on Easter Sunday, then deleted them before breakfast. Threatened to erase "a whole civilization," then teed off by Monday morning. At least Nero stayed in Rome.
A country so institutionally broken that it took a French senator to say out loud what every American already knew. Congress watched. The Republicans said nothing, because nothing pays better than silence. The Democrats couldn't find their spine. The entire apparatus of the world's oldest democracy stood on the sidelines while one man helped himself to powers the constitution told him he couldn't have.
Either everyone in that building has decided this is perfectly fine. Or they've concluded it's already too late.
Either way, the word for that is not democracy.
The White House became the circus.

We are ready for real compromises. But not compromises at the cost of our independence and sovereignty. We are ready to speak about compromises with the United States. But not to get ultimatums from the Russians again and again. They are the aggressor. Everybody has recognized it. It hasn’t changed. Many countries that have been mediators or tried to be mediators from the very beginning of this war, especially in the Middle East and Asia, as well as other countries, they all recognize that Russia is the aggressor.
That's why it is already our compromise that we are speaking with the aggressor about compromises. “Stay where we stay” – this is a big compromise. They took almost 20% of our territory. And we are ready to speak about peace at this moment, on the basis of “Stay where we stay”. This is a big compromise.
What does Russia offer us as a compromise? What are they ready to do? They said, “We are ready not to occupy your other regions”. But it is terrorism. Even that language, it is terrorism. “I’m ready not to kill you – give us everything”. What does it mean? It's not a compromise. This is an ultimatum. That's why I said: We are ready for compromises that respect Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, our army, our people, and our children. But we are not ready for ultimatums.
From my conversation with Kyodo News (3/3)
@clausmat1@MIKKEL_MH Mon ikke der er koordineret et forhandlingamqndat på forhånd, og så har den danske regering holdt sig væk for ikke at tirre Trump og co.?
So today, Russia’s full-scale invasion aimed at destroying Ukraine has reached the same duration as the Eastern Front of World War II.
For 1,418 days, Russia has been unable to defeat Ukraine, unable to break through the front, unable to destroy its military, unable to seize its key major cities, unable to cause a Ukrainian collapse.
During those same 1,418 days, history once passed from Hitler’s attack on his ally Stalin, through the total catastrophe of 1941, the formation of the Anti-Hitler Coalition, the monumental battles for Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sevastopol, Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk, the meat grinder at Rzhev, the Allied landings in Italy and Normandy, the siege of Leningrad, operations in Eastern and Central Europe, to the Battle of Berlin and the fall of Nazism.
Putin’s Russia, meanwhile -- amid endless bravado and claims to global dominance -- is still smashing its head against a wall, trying to seize the ruined remnants of what was once a Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk in Donbas, just 45 km from the original 2022 front line.
And don’t tell me about a “war of attrition.”
Yes, there is a war of attrition -- at least since 2023, when the roughly 1,000-km front line fully stabilized and has since shifted only marginally and locally.
But.
If you are the “world's second strongest military,” with the third-largest military budget on the planet (around 40% of the entire annual state budget!), vast Soviet-era stockpiles of equipment, enormous revenues from oil sales, and ammunition supplied by your totalitarian allies -- and you still cannot defeat Ukraine after four years -- you are in deep trouble.
If, because of this war, you were forced for the first time since WWI and WWII to conduct military mobilization and place your economy on a war footing at enormous cost -- you are in deep trouble.
If, by the fourth year of the war, even your gigantic Soviet reserves of mothballed equipment are gradually running out, and you have long since been buying millions of shells from North Korea -- you are in deep trouble.
If, over these 1,418 days, you have definitively lost the European gas market, lost influence in the Caucasus, Venezuela, and Syria, and fallen into complete vassal dependence on China -- you are in deep trouble.
If, in the middle of this war of attrition against Ukraine, Ukraine manages to invade your own territory and occupy part of your region for more than half a year, forcing you to buy Kim Jong Un’s expendable combat slaves to push Ukrainian troops out of Kursk -- you are in deep trouble.
If, after 1,418 days, Ukraine destroys your oil industry night after night and eliminates your generals in the center of Moscow, and at one point wipes out an entire fleet of strategic bombers on their airfields -- you are in deep trouble.
If, after 1,418 days of full-scale war, your state TV propaganda is orgasming over the capture of yet another set of useless ruins of small, remote towns in the Donbas -- places you smashed your head against for months, sometimes years -- you are in deep trouble.
If your confirmed and documented tank losses alone (over 4,300, according to Oryx) are already comparable to the entire actively used tank fleet of the U.S. Army -- you are in deep trouble.
If global intelligence services estimate your losses at 1 million killed and wounded, and even after 1,418 days of war the capture of just one Donetsk region does not appear remotely achievable in the foreseeable future -- you are in deep trouble.
Not to mention any “grand breakthroughs” toward Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv (where your blitzkrieg collapsed completely at the very beginning), or Lviv.
If, after 1,418 days of full-scale war, you still have not captured a single major regional capital in Ukraine since the 2014 war -- and the one you did take in 2022 you later lost due to military defeat -- you are in deep trouble.
If your vaunted Black Sea Fleet has been defeated at sea by a country without a navy, your flagship was sunk back in 2022, Ukraine regularly destroys port terminals and sinks your submarines, while successfully keeping its maritime routes to Odesa open -- you are in deep trouble.
If, despite all the indecision and slowness of the West in providing military aid to Ukraine (and now, with the key ally, the United States, having almost completely withdrawn support and twisting Ukraine’s arm to force capitulation), you still cannot defeat exhausted fifty-year-old Ukrainian men -- and 2025 becomes your bloodiest year yet, with no end to the war even visible on the horizon — you are not “winning.”
When you are unable to defeat Ukraine for longer than the entire duration of your so-called “Great Patriotic War,” around which you built a deranged, cannibalistic cult of violence, hatred, revanchism, and conquest -- you are “winning” only in the bravado of zombifying TV propaganda and in the imagination of useful idiots who mindlessly consume it.
Once again in your history, you are rapidly driving your “empire” into the grave -- where it belongs -- and you have not yet suffered a resolute defeat only because of the extraordinary weakness, indecision, short-sightedness, and often outright corruption and intellectual limitation of those leading the countries of the free world.
Statement from the Premier of Greenland 🇬🇱
January 9, 2026
8:30pm local time.
We Stand Together as a People
As leaders of Greenland’s political parties, we once again wish to underline our firm position that the United States’ disregard for our country must come to an end.
We do not wish to be Americans. We do not wish to be Danes. We wish to be Greenlanders.
Greenland is a country governed in accordance with the Self-Government Act and international law. The Government of Greenland and the Inatsisartut are elected by the people of Greenland, and through this mandate they cooperate with the United States and other Western countries—a cooperation that will continue in the future.
The future of Greenland must be decided by the Greenlandic people. Work concerning Greenland’s future is conducted in dialogue with the population and prepared on the basis of international law and the Self-Government Act. No other country has the right to interfere in this process. We will decide our country’s future ourselves—without pressure to make hasty decisions, without delays imposed from outside, and without external interference.
In recent years, we have strengthened our international responsibility and engagement. This has been carried out through official diplomatic channels and in accordance with international principles based on mutual respect, and this approach will continue.
We once again call for dialogue to be conducted on the basis of diplomacy and international principles. This is the appropriate path forward for allies and friends.
We therefore agree on the following:
That intensified and close dialogue with our allies and cooperation partners must be ensured.
That a meeting of the Inatsisartut be brought forward in order to secure a responsible, orderly, and united political debate.
That, in these extraordinary and serious circumstances, the rights and interests of the Greenlandic people are safeguarded.
That we will continue working to develop opportunities that ensure security and well-being for our people throughout the entire country.
We stand together in our right to our country, now and for all time.
Greenland belongs to the Greenlandic people.

🇪🇺🇺🇸🇷🇺 EU Opens “Territorial Swap Season” as Von der Leyen Floats Trading Alaska for Crimea.
In a surprise statement that left diplomats choking on their coffee, Ursula von der Leyen reportedly announced that the EU is “open” to recognizing Alaska as Russian territory if it helps settle the whole Crimea thing once and for all. “Look, the Americans barely use the place except for reality TV and bears,” she allegedly said, shrugging as if she were trading Pokémon cards and not chunks of sovereign land.
According to sources, she concluded by noting that “this is how grownups negotiate,” before pointing out that if Trump can hand out Europe like party favors, she might as well join the fun.
The Kremlin was said to be “deeply intrigued,” mostly because they hadn’t even asked for Alaska yet, but appreciated the enthusiasm. Washington, on the other hand, responded with its usual composure.
Experts agree the whole episode highlights the new era of diplomatic innovation, where global leaders spontaneously auction off territories they don’t own in exchange for ones they also don’t own, all in the noble pursuit of “peace” or at least a quieter news cycle ❤️.
Og samtidig herhjemme: Ingen handling på dansk gasforbrug, som I stigende grad kommer fra biogas. Er det ca. 20 mia. Frem til 2030, vi bruger på at støtte gasproducenterne i landbruget? @spisekammeret#dkpol#dkgreen
Europe must stop importing any Russian oil and gas. All this money is spent by Russia directly on the war. We see no increase in social support inside Russia, which means all of these funds are going to the war. If there is a shortage of money for the war, social support for people in Russia will decrease. If social support decreases, people will become dissatisfied. And the Russian leadership will be dissatisfied as well. History shows: Russia has always changed after hunger riots. And that is exactly what they fear.
Yes, there are risks and alternative logistics may cost more. But a way must be found to stop buying Russian energy. On this, I fully support the U.S., and Ukraine is ready to help Europe.
This must be part of a comprehensive solution: not only energy, but also the shadow fleet, and in principle, halting Russia’s ability to trade and export goods by sea. This is also an important way to reduce its economy. Shadow fleet, banking sector, energy – total sanctions are needed, without exceptions.
Putin embarrassed Trump 3 weeks ago in Alaska.
Putin bombed an American factory 2 weeks ago.
Putin now expanding war into Poland and Moldova.
Putin has played Trump for a fool
@SecGenNATO If NATO air defences are "continually at the ready" then HOW did those drones reach that far into Poland? Are we ready or is this just more thoughts & prayers and strongly worded tweets?
