@c2c_Rail Just got on 13:37 from Leigh-on-Sea to Shoeburyness. Loud bang and sparks from overhead wires as we left station. Suspected bird strike according to the driver😬
@MileThird If you haven't seen this already, there is a warning on the YourSouthend group about a right wing protest on HCR today. https://t.co/7IkQwGTuCM
⚠️ Warning: A number of businesses have been boarded up in the Hamlet Court Road area, ahead of a planned protest against immigration today.
The protest has reportedly been planned to take place from 8pm, outside an immigration solicitor’s office.
The protest is one of a number that appear to have been planned in the ‘Telegram’ app, targeting immigration businesses around the UK on the same night.
Counter protesters are also planning to attend. Members of ‘Southend Against Fascism’ say they will be attending the same location to challenge protestors.
The group said: “The far right are planning a protest in Southend on Wednesday night, so we have planned a counter protest. There are many more of us than there are of them so let’s show these fascists what community looks like.”
Some shops on Hamlet Court Road are closing early as a precaution. Smart Vision Ltd said: “Due to the potential protests in Hamlet Court Road we may have to close early! Please phone before coming to see us.”
Charity Southend in Sight said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances our shop and centre at 117 Hamlet Court Road will be closed on Wednesday 7th August. We are aiming to reopen again on Thursday.”
Bayo Alaba, MP for Rochford and Southend East, said: "A story has been widely shared of a number of anti immigration demonstrations due to take place simultaneously across the country on Wednesday evening. One of the locations mentioned is in Southend.
“There is every chance that this is fake news. But as a precaution, may I urge you all, to keep your young people at home or nearby on Wednesday evening, if possible. And warn anyone that you think may be tempted to attend, of the consequences of their actions.
“It's important that if you see any large congregations of people on Wednesday afternoon/evening forming, please report to the police immediately.“
Your Southend will be publishing live updates across our channels to keep local people informed.
@SouthendCityC Hi. Will the problem with signup for the new 'MySouthend', for residents with addresses above number 50, be fixed soon ? It's been broken for 3 weeks :-(
@c2c_Rail Please tell us that IBM actually understand basic software version control, and haven't overwritten the last 5 years of bug fixes in the smartcard system 😭
@greateranglia Are the lifts working OK at Shenfield station today ? Asking for an elderly passenger, transferring from TFL rail to GA heading to Southend Vic. Thanks.
@CauldronFoods Thank you for bringing back your original recipe Linconshire and Cumberland vegetarian sausages. We think they are the most tasty veggie sausages on the market 😋
@metaportal Can you please give users the option to remove the 'Most used apps' box from the home screen. I bought the Facebook Portal for my 80 year old mother and she now finds it too confusing. Some elderly people want a pure simple home screen with contacts ONLY. Thank you.
@c2c_Rail why did you cancel the 6:35 from Southend Central? They were still allowing passengers into the station, despite the fire alarm, so why not allow the train to stop? Ridiculous!
@Essex_Echo Can you please include info about the road closures on the Queensway. Apparently something to do with Cityfibre installing cabling ducts. Quite a few cars got caught out by this on Sunday. Ended up having to go through the bus stops at Vic station (hoping we dont get fined)
@wdormann For the benefit of anyone else wanting to know where that info is listed on an official Microsoft page:
https://t.co/LKFVZHdyWL
Search May 1st to May 31st 2022 and apply a filter for CVE-2022-30190
Annoying that Microsoft don't just list it in the improvements on the KB page😞
@SouthEssexSU Hi. If one of your Southend students reports that she has lost her student card and bus pass, we found it at Southend Victoria Station and have handed it in at the ticket office
