Today marks a year since I was told I wouldn't be able to go into placement and watched my friends go into placement whilst I was on crutches losing hope. Today, was the start of my career as I used all the skills from my last placement and life to be the student nurse
When my friends in acute care ask what the pressures in community are like:
Imagine a 30 bed ward with 6 staff. Except half the staff are off sick and estates have fitted bunk beds to all bedspaces.
'Prior to this placement, if Iโd been asked to describe what district nurses did, I would've said they looked after patients with leg ulcers. How naรฏve I was!' Read our new blog by #StudentNurse Karen Cotici on her placement in the #community https://t.co/Coz5CCcZj9
