The signing of a 20-year Gas Supply Agreement between Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and NNPC Ltd. marks one of the most significant milestones in the effort to revive Nigeria's largest steel complex. Reliable gas supply has long been identified as one of the key requirements for restarting the plant, and this agreement removes a major obstacle.

If effectively implemented, the benefits could be transformative:

The next challenge is effective implementation and ensuring that Nigerians finally see steel rolling out of Ajaokuta.
