@SmithSorrento@GreenJennyJones If Burnham is the best chance of stopping Reform getting the keys to Downing Street, the Greens should see sense and this time, stand aside.
@SpursfanMart@GreenJennyJones And if as a result the Greens let Reform into Downing Street, the country will remember, while Reform devastate our public services. The Greens need to put country before party. They'll never win a GE, but they can work with others.
@HunterB86@GreenJennyJones The Lib Dems have decided not to field a candidate. For God's sake don't risk Farage in government just on a point of principle.
@SandyofSuffolk@IsraeliPM I'm disgusted by the genocide being carried out by Israel. What Hamas did was monstrous and must be condemned, but Israel's response of committing mass murder cannot in any way be seen as a justifiable and proportional response.
@IainDale So I'm going to go to the pub and save on average 3p in an evening. If they pass it on. Wow. I'm a Labour voter but pennies off pints is just crap politics and crap economics. I thought better of Rachel than this.
@Heccles94@StewartLewis2 No it really isn't straight up privatisation. The private sector will be temporarily used, is available now and we could start tomorrow in theory. In contrast training NHS staff up would take years.
@Pricey147 @IainDale We were losing jobs due to global factors, not exacerbating it by leaving the EU. Yes of course we were sad about the general job losses, but leaving the EU made it worse. Again, what did you think leaving the EU was going to achieve?
@Pricey147 @IainDale Because leaving the EU wasn't going to bring loads of manufacturing jobs back to the UK from China etc. Nor from the EU countries. If anything, we've lost jobs to the EU because UK companies have had to set up hubs in the EU. What did you think Brexit was going to achieve?
@Pricey147 @IainDale Because this was an additional un-necessary loss on top of the general loss. We did this to ourselves. On top of this to export goods and services to the EU, we now have to obey rules that we have no say over any more.
@bunny_lingus@IainDale By value - yes. And exports in services account for most of that. However, the point is that exports would be even higher if not for Brexit.
@Pricey147 @IainDale That wasn't because we were EU members though, it was the actions of western economies in general, offshoring jobs to the east where it was cheaper. It became an issue post 2016 because all of a sudden the Tories had to find to find something to give Brexit meaning.
@Pricey147 @IainDale Ask the small businesses who have stopped exporting to the EU due to the additional costs of paperwork and import duties what they think.
