Under India’s BRICS Chairship, the first technical meeting of the BRICS TB Research Network was held today under the BRICS Health Track.

The meeting focused on sharing of experiences and learnings from the BRICS countries on novel screening and diagnostics tools such as low-cost point-of care molecular diagnostic tests and shorter effectives relapses free treatment regimen.

The BRICS nations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaborative research, innovation, and shared action towards ending tuberculosis. Together, BRICS nations move stronger towards a #TBFreeWorld.

Union Health Secretary Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava visited AIIMS Mangalagiri to review #SwachhataPakhwada (1–15 April 2026) activities and promote the vision of #SwachhBharat.

She appreciated student-led initiatives like “Waste to Art”, reviewed key hospital facilities, and emphasized cleanliness as a cornerstone of preventive healthcare under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi.

She also felicitated frontline staff and dedicated the new Undergraduate Girls Hostel Block for women students.

Under the 100-Day Campaign of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, an Ayushman Arogya Shivir was successfully held in Gollapudi, NTR district, Andhra Pradesh.

Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, inaugurated the Shivir and reviewed the progress of the ongoing campaign. She was joined by Shri Saurabh Gaur, Principal Secretary (Health), Government of Andhra Pradesh, along with senior officials from both the Centre and the State.

The Shivir featured key public health interventions, including:
• Handheld X-ray screening for early TB detection
• Distribution of nutrition baskets to TB patients
• Interaction with TB Champions, PRI members, CHOs, and ANMs
• Review of flagship initiatives such as Anaemia Mukt Bharat and HPV vaccination
This initiative highlights strong Centre-State collaboration and reinforces India’s commitment to eliminating TB while strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery.
