The Space Force Association (SFA) is the only nonprofit dedicated to educating, supporting, and connecting the public with the mission of the U.S. Space Force.
Thank you @SpaceForceAssoc for explaining the difference between #USSPACECOM, a combatant command, and @USSpaceForce, a military service branch. Read the thread below to learn more about the command's distinct mission. ๐
Two organizations. Two distinct jobs. Both essential to how the U.S. operates in space.
SFA supports the people in both. And we're watching this transition closely. ๐
The Space Force and Space Command are not the same organization.
This trips up reporters, lawmakers, and most Americans. Here's the actual difference... โ
Right now, Space Command is relocating its headquarters from Colorado Springs to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
On April 29, it opened its first operational facility there, a true active intelligence element.
The Space Force needs more Guardians, more capabilities, and more infrastructure. Gen. Saltzman made that case before congress, backed by a budget proposal that would more than double the Space Force's topline, a 124% increase to $71.1 billion.
The Space Force Association has had a chapter in Huntsville for years.
When those first personnel arrived, there was already a community ready to welcome them.
That's what our chapters do best.
@US_SpaceCom opened its first operational facility at Redstone Arsenal exactly one month ago, on April 29.
Not a planning office. Not a transition team. An active intelligence element executing real-world missions from Huntsville, Alabama. ๐งต
The scale of what's coming: roughly 200 personnel on site by end of 2026. At least 50% of total command capacity operating from Redstone by 2028. Full permanent headquarters, a 427,000 sq ft complex on 64 acres, targeted for completion around 2031.
We brought our planetarium show โAlways Aboveโ to @WKU to connect directly with Americans in a community that may not regularly see or hear about our mission.
Space touches every part of modern life, and Guardians work every day to protect the capabilities our nation depends on!

For Guardians, readiness is more than technical expertise.
CMSSF Bentivegna discusses why physical fitness matters in a modern warfighting service and how staying mission ready helps him lead from the front as the senior enlisted leader of the Space Force.
AI is transforming how we design, build, and operate space systems , but its real power emerges only when our digital tools, data, and architectures can work together.
Thatโs why the conversation at the @SpaceForceAssoc Space Power Conference resonated so strongly. Redwire Chairman & CEO Peter Cannito underscored the critical role government plays in setting the standards that allow the entire ecosystem to integrate and innovate.
ย โAnother role for government in its partnership with the space industry, perhaps its No. 1 role, is setting the standards and architecture for all players to followโฆ to make sure that all that stuff can work together, seamlessly, because thatโs really where the power comes from.โ
Redwire EVP for National Security Space Dean Bellamy echoed that vision, highlighting how AIโenabled agents will only reach their full potential when they can operate cohesively across platforms.
