@SpaceX pushes for offshore launch capabilities

Hard Tech Headlines:

- @Exosat_ has launched out of Y Combinator as its first Asia-based space company, developing low-cost communications satellites for civil and commercial markets outside the U.S. and China, including telecom, maritime, energy, mining, logistics and satellite IoT.

- @flyarcher plans to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, which develops autonomous eVTOL aircraft; SkyGrid, which develops air traffic management technology; and Insitu, which builds ISR drones.

- @Splash_Robotics, the LA-based unmanned surface vessel startup, completed an autonomous strike mission during a military exercise on the East Coast, with its Typhoon 11 navigating near-zero-depth waterways less than 15 feet wide to find and intercept a simulated enemy vessel.

- @SpaceX is deploying more than $16.8B into Terafab, a 100-million-square-foot semiconductor manufacturing facility in Grimes County, Texas, expected to be the largest chip manufacturing facility ever built.

- @Raytheon completed a successful demonstration of its unmanned undersea vehicle during a U.S. Navy exercise. The UUV has 2,000+ nautical miles of endurance and is designed to cost roughly 67–80% less than comparable long-endurance UUVs, enabled in part by its carbon-fiber exoskeleton.

Pulsar’s Sunbird programme achieved first plasma in March 2026, demonstrating initial confinement and particle acceleration using krypton. Upcoming testing will add plasma diagnostics, superconducting magnets, RF and rotating magnetic-field heating, and thrust measurements. The programme aims to advance toward aneutronic fusion propulsion while studying neutron-induced damage to reactor walls and magnets with UKAEA.
