Circular solutions are urgently needed to shape a healthy future for people and planet. That means it’s time to unite and connect the dots, bridging gaps to scale up results and shape the future.
🤝 Sparx helped “Connect the Dots” alongside over 200 values-aligned attendees at the @RecyclingBC’s 2026 Circular Economy Conference, held at the UBC Robson Square this May.
☕ We were proud to co-organize Impact for Breakfast Vancouver – Conversation Cafe: Investing in Circular Economy, on day two of the Conference. Moderated by our Founder and President, Hamish Khamisa, and featuring Olivia Hornby, Managing Partner and Founding Partner of Spring Impact Capital, and Paul Tournier, CEO and Co-Founder of Circular Rubber Technologies Inc. / Regenerativs, we enjoyed an X-traordinary conversation about what it actually takes to get circular ventures funded. Plus, the 50+ attendees who joined the session received exclusive copies of Circular Economy Magazine!
🗣️ During the event, we also attended sessions on a wide range of topics, including circular construction, scaling models for reusable packaging, beverage container recycling, and the tools that can help us achieve zero waste. Collaboration, policy, innovation, digitization, and new technologies are pivotal for making progress in all of these areas.
📢 The critical need for a messaging shift was another key discussion point. Doom and gloom narratives are increasing climate anxiety and sharing on social media but are decreasing climate action. The answer? To inspire meaningful change, we need to share stories of positive impact, proving what’s possible through emotional storytelling and tangible examples, and infusing it all with joy—one of the most powerful behavioural change levers.
✨ Being at the RCBC Conference certainly inspired hope in us. Seeing so many organizations across different sectors, connecting with familiar faces, and meeting new people proved just how tight-knit and motivated the zero-waste community is in BC.
The momentum is here, and there are plenty of people showing up to do the work to make Canada’s circular economy a reality.
Thanks for having us! 🩵

Purpose isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the spark igniting meaningful change in uncertain times, and the story that will write a better future.
This May, Sparx joined hundreds of changemakers for two days of mission-driven sessions and cross-sector conversations at Greater Purpose Conference West 2026 in Vancouver.
🗣️ Sessions on leadership emphasized the importance of companies “getting belonging right” to succeed, and acting with purpose and persistence to make an impact.
🧩 Climate, inequality, and resilience—the three structural forces shaping our current economic landscape—were discussed at the event. Purpose-driven organizations should ask themselves three questions about any new initiative: does it reduce downside risk, expand participation, and speed up recovery?
📖 The event also explored something that Sparx has believed in since our inception: emotionally resonant storytelling is necessary for impact marketing, and there should be strategy behind it.
✨ Speaking of powerful storytelling, we were delighted to learn about the Audible Indigenous Writers' Circle, a six-month online and in-person mentorship program for emerging First Nations, Inuit, and Métis writers in Canada.
🧠 And Sparx was proud to host a “Braindate” on marketing purpose-driven organizations and the communications challenges they face. Thank you to everyone who joined our discussion!
Overall, this was an inspiring and purposeful event. Thanks for having us! 🩵

We have big news: Sparx is now a member of the Recycling Council of Alberta! ♻️✨
This April, we were proud to join the @3RsAB (RCA) alongside 350+ municipalities, businesses, individuals, and other circular economy champions building a waste-free world.
A leading sustainability organization for over 30 years, RCA works to promote, facilitate, and advocate for a circular economy in Alberta, including hosting its premier Circular Economy Conference each fall.
At Sparx, we believe that circular solutions are a fundamental part of making the world better. That’s why we've been amplifying the good being done by changemakers in Alberta—working with amazing clients in the waste management and recycling space, participating in events, building connections, and sharing stories from the province.
It’s an X-traordinary honour to join the RCA on its mission. We look forward to making the world better, together! 💚

We need to get creative to make the world better! Game-changing solutions, innovations, and communications all start with a creative spark. 💫
That’s why Sparx travelled to the Victoria Conference Centre for the inaugural Pacific Northwest Creatives Summit, organized by Here Magazine and supported by @creativebcs.
🎨 Inspiration and imagination crackled in the air at this two-day gathering of writers, publishers, photographers, designers, visual storytellers, and other creative communicators from across BC, the Yukon, and the Pacific Northwest.
✒️ At the “Beyond the Book Launch” workshop by Rebel Goose, we got an inside look at how publishers approach marketing. Putting authentic, human voices forward is helping them rise above the noise. They achieve this through “movement marketing,” which is all about participation, community, and belonging—giving the people something emotional that they WANT to share.
📖 During the event, we were honoured to exhibit Circular Economy Magazine. After careful research, we printed a batch of copies made from sustainable, recyclable materials and handed them out for free at the Publishers House. It was awesome to share our magazine with a mix of book publishers, magazine publishers, presses, and creative industry partners.
💎 Being in a room with creatives is always a fantastic and eye-opening experience. And while sustainability was not one of the main topics of the summit, it felt amazing to raise awareness and chat with cool people who are excited to learn more about circularity!
Thanks for having us! 🩵

In our quest to weave a circular economy for Canada, there’s one important thread we can’t lose: textiles. 🧵🔄
Last month, Sparx journeyed to #Calgary, #Alberta to attend Explore Circularity Day 2026, hosted by @3RsAB.
🤝 This year’s theme, Textile Circularity in Alberta, knit together approximately 150 attendees, representing businesses, charitable organizations involved in textiles reuse, smaller artisanal makers, activists, and supporters from across industries.
⚠️ Overproduction is one of the biggest issues within the textile industry, and it’s a global problem. Over 100 billion garments are produced per year. In fact, there’s enough clothing in the market right now to clothe six generations!
🧶 Textiles are more than clothes and apparel, and circularity is about more than just managing waste: it’s about designing a circular system with policy, economics, and education in mind. There’s no single solution. That’s why Canada needs to coordinate its efforts into a cohesive system to achieve success.
👕 We need to focus on REUSE over recycling. Recycling textiles is complex, and there’s currently no infrastructure in place. Reuse diverts waste, has established infrastructure, and we’re seeing a big push for extended producer responsibility (EPR) for reuse.
📢 As one speaker at the event said, “we need to normalize reuse and market the heck out of it!” With the right messaging, we can make textile circularity exciting, enticing, and affordable. The more people get involved, the more we can spark systemic change, together!
💯 Some cool ideas for circular solutions were also pitched during the event. One idea was to make a deposit system for gear, similar to the beverage container system, in which people would get a deposit back for bringing in gear for recycling. We’re hopeful to see that vision realized!
🌱 Along with the event itself, we enjoyed the refreshing spring weather and the day’s incredible venue: the Calgary Zoo. Plus, lots of cool sustainable elements were incorporated into the event, such as free gifts for attendees, including mending kits, reusable bags made from recycled materials, and dish cloths from discarded textiles—perfect for diverting textile waste at home!
✨ At the end of the day, textile circularity is relevant to all of us. Businesses, changemakers, the general population, everyone. We all wear clothes every day, and we can all make a difference that matters, no matter the size.
Thanks for having us! 🩵
