We’re digging in — literally! 👷♀️🚧 Crews have started borehole drilling at Walmsley Brook — a small stream in the Don Valley.
These boreholes will give engineers key insights into ground conditions to help design the Ontario Line’s elevated guideways.
Two of the Ontario Line's first tunnel boring machines are all packed up and ready to set sail for Ontario!

February was a big month underground! From lowering specialized, heavy-duty equipment into the shaft to making headway on station cavern excavation, progress is moving full steam ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as we carve out the tunnel for the future Queen-Spadina station.
🤔 How do we know where to dig subway tunnels and foundations for major structures? It all starts with borehole drilling! The borehole drill cuts through layers of earth, digging up samples that engineers use to study the conditions beneath the surface. 🚧

🥶It's freezing in Toronto, but our concrete is warm and cozy. 🥰The orange tarps pictured here at Corktown are used to insulate recently-poured concrete to prevent freezing during the curing stage. These tarps also help prevent cracking due to rapid temperature drops!
❄️ We’re not letting winter slow Ontario Line progress! We’ve installed a tent around the slurry production plant and water treatment facility at Pape and Danforth to winterize the site so we can continue working on this critical transit project year-round.
🚧 Clamshell bucket in action! Watch as this aptly named piece of machinery excavates the surface to prepare for a slurry (or support) wall panel at Pape and Danforth.
🎉 The pedestrian bridge at Exhibition GO is now officially open! The bridge helps keep people moving during Ontario Line construction, providing additional access to the train platforms and for trips to and from Liberty Village: https://t.co/k0tAvdgIPy
