There’s been much talk about the decline of reading. Here I respond to that essay from @NeilDotObrien on what we should do. Please give it a read. Link below:
‘Changing the law won’t be enough to save free speech. The police, prosecutors and the civil service will work outside of the law when it clashes with their ideology. Identitarian activists make their own law’
@andrewdoyle_com on the woke capture of the state
"The World Cup gave our summer—starved of genuine global friendship, companionship, and honorable competition—a slice of common grace. Not saving grace, to be sure, but a shadow of the reality that’s true in Christ."

Religious Education in England could be about to undergo its biggest change in decades.
This Sept, the Government is to consult on proposals to introduce a National Curriculum for RE.
The consultation could shape how children learn about Christianity for years to come. 🧵
@bphillipsonMP is quoted as saying there is consensus on what should be taught. She has been misinformed by those who have conducted the work - there were those of us who dissented but have largely been ignored in the zeal to get RE in the NC regardless of its quality.
More noise on RE in the UK. This time from @LHarewood15381 who is the Executive Officer for the Association of Christian Teachers: https://t.co/TRGdAwUpUV
The Independent Schools Religious Studies Association is not against RE being in the National Curriculum (this is positive) but it is a move that needs to be navigated carefully and well.
We're more post-literate, so please read this carefully. The issue is NOT the proposal to put RE on the national curriculum. There are concerns around HOW this is being done. 👇
Please share widely. @AJWTheology@timsuffield@Psephizo@JusBrierley
Important to raise awareness on this!
The briefing paper covers the background and outlines issues relating to transparency, process and representation across the RE sector.
